well.. my friend knock onto the rear of a expressway patrol wrx at the traffic light junction at farrer road.. the wrx e-braked and stop over the stopline.the traffic light was amble turning red and the car ai mai ai mai to dash and suddenly just braked like that, abit more then half of the rex is over the stopline causing my friend not able to react in time and bang into the bumper.

anyone with any experience in collision with a traffic police car? will my friend be in deep trouble? is claiming against the SPF possible? what are the possible consequenses?

Sorry for my poor england used pardon me

I just pray that it's not you.

Anyway, you can almost assume all liabilty once you rear ended another vehicle because the onus is on you to keep a safe distance. Rear-ending a TP car doesn't make it a more serious offence but it's going to cause your insurer to pay more because it's not a case of cheapest garage gets the job. All TP vehicles are serviced only at their respective local distributor. Motor Image is don't come cheap.

i hope i didn't read wrongly about that part your friend wants to claim against SPF. For that matter, SPF doesn't own the vehicles, they are only the custodian. All assets are owned by the state (of Singapore). You want to claim, file it to the Attorney-General.

Your friend should have slowed down behind a TP WRX no matter what. It is considered an "emergency vehicle" and your friend was supposed to give way and stay clear of it.

Your friend will definitely be claimed against. It is also possible that he would be charged with tailgating or careless driving.

Bang people back at traffic light turning red somemore...dun think you can ever cliam anyone base on that. You should be worrying about being cliamed, not the other way around.

juz to share ...

even if the rex e-braked to stop at the traffic light ... it still did not commit any offence. ( from the pictures shown .. it skid slightly to the left maybe due to the slippery wet metal road gratings ).

for hitting the rex from behind .. firstly, ur already at fault ... they can charge you for failing to keep a proper safe distance away from the car infront ( in this instance the rex ). you simply can't assume the driver/rider infront of you to chiong the amber light .. (if i'm not wrong, amber light means getting ready to stop unless it is unsafe to do so.) and yes, the charge means you'll get a summons.

secondly, they would surely claim from your insurace for their repairs as it is your fault to hit them from the back in the first place.

hope that helps ...

Collision with police car is the worst nightmare. Hope that he would not be seriously charged by the TP.

Several years ago, my friend was riding on his motorbike along the extreme left lane and was hit by a police car. He ended up paying for the police car's broken head light and repaired his own bike.

Moral of the story "NEVER GET INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH THE POLICE" they are always RIGHT!.

no lah bro ...

usually .. there'll be TP IO to conduct the investigation ... they'll check for a lot of things, damages to both vehicles, skid marks, etc etc ..

there are some cases that the police is at fault ..only that it is time comsuming la ..

Gd luck.

I i were in this situation, i would have "lan lan" accept the punishment.. i wouldn't want to make matter worse to even try claim against them..

Nothing debatable here, confirm wrong. If we don't sound rite to you, maybe you want to ask your insurance co. for advise. Prob the same..
