a good indicator indeed.

great salary comes with great responsibility. :)

Not really. Used to. Now each & everyone is responsible for their scope of work. Proper tbm, conduct risk assessment in multiple languages as well as progressively do safety trainings will safe guard your rice bowl..

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing. You sound like you are doing part-time/ project based jobs ? How's the market now ? I wonder if there are enough jobs in S'pore as we are have large increment of safety practitioners each year.

Market isnt so bad. Good rapport and build contacts will secure u a good workplace in no time. I used to be with consultant on my 1yr. Subsequently permanent with co. To date we are still lack of safety practitioners. Singapore is trying to benchmark the level of non-compliance with a European country. Soon every workplace with a specific minimum no. of workers/staffs (i'm not sure how many) will nid to engage a safety practitioner be it as a p/t or f/t.

Great salary comes with great responsibilities.... But no power, cannot execute responsibilities? How??

I disagree with your comment. Sorry no hard feelings. It all depends on wat u r looking for. Of coz if ur talking about local contractor or company, some of them hire u for e sake of mom requirements bt park u 1 side. But not mnc co. especially wen u work in oil & gas or petrochemical plant. E power of attorney is in the wsho's hands.

Afterall, is all about what do u wish for..

safety is really a journey. if you do not have the passion, cant really go very far. and likewise, you will get depressed and dejected very very easily, if your management think this 1 cannot that 1 cannot.. extremely depressing. it's like you waste some of your time to do the best precaution that you can think of, but it's rejected by the management. but overall, its a very challenging career.. winning the faith of the management is is tedious and long task..in front, they say support safety.. but in the back, they are trying to save cost..depressing and sad isnt it?

Hi SanMarino,

Dun be so depressed lah? Is this 1 of the toughest element as a safety practitioner ? If it is then I think I am lucky... ok, back to reading the Acts.

hahaha...

I understand what you mean and understand your "pain".

Same with my company.

Say they super support EHS.

But then when the budget is tight, the first thing they cut from the budget is the EHS portion.

What the @##$^*$^@ ???

Without the budget and $$, how to implement what EHS policies, etc...??

All the lips services from the top, sales-figures-driven management.

Sighz...

Hey aircraft,

This is one of the MOST toughest.. u reading the Act? There's really alot and alot to understand leh.. I finish reading the Act already. It takes me months to like 80% understand what it's talking about. I ask my friends, my lecturers, the MOM, until each of them know me. Dont want to pick up my call. One officer even make me so angry until i kup his phone. All the sake of gaining knowledge. When talk to boss about law, not interested.. sometimes i wonder why im going the hard way to torture myself..
