hahaha...where are you taking the course at...level B?level C?...i've been looking online and thru the classifieds but most of the jobs require you to have a couple of years of experience in safety...quite a bummer!

I'm taking the most basic one first, starting in april, then the advance one following that. all at ntuc learning hub. yes, i have been looking too. but everyone has gotta start somewhere wat, right? so i suppose thats what we have to do too! expect a lower salary, stick it out for 2 years, then we can slowly make a switch to better paying ones after that. not forgetting to continue with other courses in between! i will be looking for a job right after i'm done with the advanced certification, and then carry on the specialist one while i'm working at the same time. :)

hello there! yup starting in april. taking the full time course so its for 1 month. after that i will be starting on the advanced course the following month (in may), also full time, this is for two months. means i will have completed those two courses in july thereabouts. will be looking for a job by then, and then carry on the specialist course part time while working at the same time. hopefully can get a company that will sponsor, with a bond! =)

you can have ptw for any activity under the sky. but for construction, these are the 7 high risk activities that required a mandatory ptw:

(a) demolition work;

(b) excavation and trenching work in a tunnel or hole in the ground exceeding 1.5 metres depth;

© lifting operations involving tower, mobile or crawler crane;

(d) piling work;

(e) tunnelling work;

(f) work on a scaffold where a person could fall more than 2 metres; and

(g) work involving entry into a confined space.

please refer to the wsh (construction) regulations 2007 mom website, http://www.mom.gov.sg

don't any how add to the list or otherwise ppl may thot it is mandatory.

why hsse? health, safety, security, environment.

how about facility, quality, fire safety, corporate social responsibilities, sustainability, risk management?

since when safety ppl become a pro in so many diverse scopes?

is the company so cheap that they need one man to multitask?

remember one thing, the one who work hardest earns the least.

be focus, be specialised, in one scope.

Hi Mr Tay,

I got your point but this HSSE doesn't mean 1 man show or multi-tasking. Its a topic which comprises of HSSE to be discussed. i believed these HSSE are related to safety thats y thought of using it as title. If it only focus on safety alone without other factors related, there may be not much things to learn... thanks :)

hi gacktrvf,

"safety alone.... not much things to learn..." no wonder the ppl in the world always thot that safety ppl cho bo lan, add no value to the organisation. and that's the reason why bosses add extra duties to safety chaps in the workplace.

so, it is this kind of thinking and mindset from the very safety ppl that degrades the value of safety. and the worst thing is that we allowed it to happen to us.

that's the reason why safety officer in shipyard would be safety assessor, safety officer in factory would be fsm, safety officer in construction would be eco...

why should we double up, or triple up or multitask? there is no end to such. we need to stop this.

learn from lta. learn from petrol chem. safety is a single role.

double up does not equal to double pay.

i only do occupational health and safety. and that's it. cos i only had one pay. and we have a team of 8 ppl just doing that.

speak up or give up your hssefsmassessorecosecurityfacilityauditor job.

hi baba,

you liddat ask how to help?

please elaborate the followings:

1. who ask for this?

2. he ask who?

3. when he ask?

4. why he ask?

5. what do you mean by a written report?

6. what do you mean by a wsh policy? how do you define a policy? are you referring to a one-page policy statement or a manual, procedure thingy?

7. last but not least, what is your role in particularly formulating this policy, for whom you work for???

sometimes when someone ask somethings, we don't quite understand. but we dare not to question or clarify, cos we thot if we ask too much, we shows that we know nuts and thus paiseh and ended up, we ask in a forum using our nick so that no one knows who the hell we are and hope we learn something from someone who sometimes anyhow advise and ended up we anyhow learn. welcome to the world of internet. my nick is cstay66, you know me?

and for all who aspired to invest your life in safety, pls learn to ask and ask properly or smartly.

thanks.

Hi Guys, can anyone explain what is a written report in WSH policy for construction industry? As in how do i start? :)

Hi Cstay66, Chill bro! :) I saw this safety thread in SBF so i posted here. It wasn't me who is asking, i am asking on behalf of my friend who has just started Adv Cert in safety. I have no idea what is it as i am not in safety industry. :)

Posted

wow. what a friend who can find time to post on behalf of him.

since you have started the ball rolling, can you ask him on my behalf to answer the questions posted.

and then you can post his answers on his behalf back here.

liddat we all can benefit right? if not, it's a total waste of time even for those who are reading this thread.

thanks everybody thanks.
