Hi all!!

I'm new and I'm here becos of this discussion. I'm interested to find out more about career in the safety line as well. I'm current doing my Advanced cert in WSH and will be completing next month. I am currently working as a recept in a construction company. But heading for a big switch perhaps and I dun seem to receive any encouragement from my HR manager :cry: as he is doubting that a lady is not very suitable to be in the construction safety line:dozed: ... Hopefully I will be able to get some encouragement or some form of guidance from u guys!

Thanks!:p

feel so sorry for your work condition that you have to lay your hands on putting things right.

trust you must be very demoralised by what's really happening on site.

hope you see the value of yourself dirtying your hands covering others' backsides and doing others' due diligence.

yah in that sense, i think a lady can't hold a candle or they simple don't give a damn.

you must be happy that no ladies dare to rob you of your job. but beware of foreign talents next to you.

happy covering.

you can have ptw for any activity under the sky. but for construction, these are the 7 high risk activities that required a mandatory ptw:

(a) demolition work;

(b) excavation and trenching work in a tunnel or hole in the ground exceeding 1.5 metres depth;

© lifting operations involving tower, mobile or crawler crane;

(d) piling work;

(e) tunnelling work;

(f) work on a scaffold where a person could fall more than 2 metres; and

(g) work involving entry into a confined space.

please refer to the wsh (construction) regulations 2007 mom website, http://www.mom.gov.sg

don't any how add to the list or otherwise ppl may thot it is mandatory.

Anyway for any high risk work, it is also required to implement PTW

I do not mean to be rude.

@cstay66, pls educate these people.

If one person does not do the assignments himself/herself, he/she will not understand the topics and subjects. So what if he can graduate from the Specialist Diploma and be a safety officer or co-ordinator?

This person will be putting the workers' lives at risk.

Think thrice before you decide to be a safety officer walking around knowing nothing and putting workers' lives at risk.

You can be pissed off, angry with and offended with what I say here, but I am not sorry. Cos workers' lives are more important than merely passing the specialist diploma but know nothing after graduating.

dear seah,

i am a nobody. so can't comment on this.

i think valecompass is trying to help those who are weak at a price.

though advertise thru this forum seems cheap.

as long as it is not copy and paste work and it strengthens the belief and conviction of those who desired to be in this safety profession, i think we are large enough to accommodate.

trust valecompass and those who engage his service know what they are doing.

Dear Mr Tay,

With your seniority and years and years of experiences in the safety line, you are being extremely modest and humble with your statement. :)

i just been scheduled for an RSO interview so would deeply appreciated those who have attended the interview before can share some light on it.

Hi Good Luck.

I/m sure you will be able to make it with your years of safety industrial experience.

Nowsdays, RM is a know-must as a WSHO which includes other applicable CPs/SS/ACOP/WSH Act and its subsidiary legislation and most importantly 14 element of SHMS etc.

hi everyone. Im planning to work in SG october this year (since my wife is working there also). I have been working as a safety officer for 5 years with work experiences in Qatar, Jeddah, Philippines. Im a NEBOSH passer. I know that I have to take the courses required by MOM before I can register with them as WSHO. Is it possible for me to find a job as safety officer while taking the course required by MOM (that is, not being registered with MOM yet as I have to complete the course first before I can be registered)? thanks a lot.

If i want to start a career in petochem industustries, what are the relevant cert needed? Will i get a job without any experience? Help help~ ):

hi seah,

you flatter me lah.

in sinkapore, the older you get, the lower your value. the longer you work, the greater risk of being replaced.

when the younger ones are coming up stronger, and foreigners coming in cheaper, your future is bleak.

very sure that many of us will be on the reverse mortgage loan before we can fully pay up our hdb loan.

an ec cost 2 over million, a coe coming to 100k.

our gahmen working very hard to eliminate our future job of clearing tray.

no solution for our train breakdown amid high transport fare. (heard they want to increase somemore....tmd).

looking at the situation now and near, how not to be humble?

tissue paper 1 dollar, 1 dollar....tissue paper 1 dollar 1 dollar.....

hi chinito,

finding a decent job in singapore is tough but possible.

singapore favours foreigners becos foreigners seems to be able to take a lower pay, work longer hours, not demanding.

if you expect to be treated better and fairer, demanding more, you becomes like singaporeans and you will be eliminated by the market force.

in singapore, we welcome you and our garmen loves you deep deep.

hi chompencheng,

bcss no value one. all bangla lead workers are trained in bcss too.

in fact, all foremen and supervisors, even engineers and managers in construction took up this bcss.

cos the law says you must be competent if you have to supervise work or workers safely.

suggest you go for safety co-ordinator course as projects less than $10m needs safety co-ordinator.

but ppl look for experience one and cheap one.

you hav both?
