My bike backfires too, but it's unintentional.

I didn't cut off the engine etc...

Is this backfire harmful to my bike?

Time for you to bring it to the mech for professional advice and proper tuning.

 

Light backfiring problems don't pose immediate problems but if this stressful occurance happens periodically, may not be healthy for the engine.

Before tweaking with the air/fuel ratio, ensure that there is no air leak in the entire exhaust system. Replace the header gaskets, muffer to header connector...etc....these spares don't cost much but can wreak havoc to your bike's performance.

sure.. i'll teach you. put the bike on your sidestand, rev the bike till u hit the redline and hold it there for 3 mins, close your clutch quickly and pull out your key, throw your key as far as you can and shout 'pop!'
