hi bros, i came out of lurking cos i really need some friendly advice. how to deal with buyer remorse?

earlier this year i bought a bike that i believed to be cheap but it's slowly turning out to be a real lemon. cost of repairs keep growing and it now seems i've overpaid. feeling really really bad about my purchase. somemore next year seems like economy gonna crash .. not that i cannot afford my bike la but i cannot help but keep thinking that i should have got a better deal.

now i'm in a dilemma. should i cut my losses now and run? i will lose almost $4k-$5k off the bat for just 1/2yr use. right now bike is running great but i cannot guarantee it will always remain this way given the **** that has happened so far. but in my mind im thinking if i sell i lose $5k, and if i buy another bike same thing mmight happen all over again. then what if i'm wrong? and the bike carries on running ggreat? then my buyer would have got a totally superbly rebuilt bike using my blood sweat tears cash time for cheap

i dunno la bros. feeling very confused and emotionally tormented now. what should i do?

i have another idea in my head, and that is .. sinc ei spent so much liao .. might as well go all the way and make it a bike i will truly enjoy owning. so spend more money on all the parts i want to truly make it epic. but in my mind i thinking spend liao .. sell that time worth almost nothing. dekit and sell also lose at least 50-70%. somemore, worse case scenario i buy liao .. e bike really spoil .. then i sell bike for nothing and accessories for nothing, then lose all my money?

i know this sounds damn eff but any bros here got similar stories to share? maybe i hear i not only one liao i wont feel so alone in this ****.

First of all... must sayang you... there there...

Secondly... Cool....... ah nevermind...

Since you bought already... and spent time and money.... just keep and use first la... ... imagine you go chase one girl.. spend time money effort... then out of the blue say break up... don't want her already... because "she might be fine now but not in the future".... There will come a point in time where you fix all that can be fixed and really take care... it will last you.

I bought a lemon 2b bike as well and recently discovered after 3 years (yea i stuck that long with that bike) the IU serial and the bike plate don't tally. When i bought here spoil there spoil, even engine spoil... had to slowly spend money and time rectify one problem every month... But after all that has been said and done... i never regret spending all that effort to do the bike up... it serve me well for my daily commute, bring me touring in malaysia many times with no major fault or breakdown (even if there was one... the bike still can be started and be ridden).... I never regret taking care of this bike... even though the previous owners did not.

It was worth it.

I still have the bike till today... but its showing signs of wear and tear again... but nothing that can't be fixed! Also let my friend ride it now that i have another bike... recently took it back to send for inspection and ride around... still going strong!

Now that, my friends.... is a cool story!

Well, my second 2B bike (second hand) also. Bought from a bike shop, repair cost exceeds the bike itself. Rode until the pistons jam and scrap it off. :weep:

So lesson learn, subsequent, my third and current bikes are first hand and never gave me problems at all :)

CSB.

But his scenario different leh.

What if you chase the girl, then during your first time having sex, you discover that she got 3 tits. Then you spend money on plastic surgery to correct that.

Next time you wanna do it again, you discover that she got two belly buttons. Again you gotta spend more $$ on plastic surgery. So and and so forth because you discover next that she is a hermaphrodite, then got 6 toes, then got a mole on her ass the shape of Italy, etc etc...

Sure you won't dump her?

remove all the clothes and do a proper check once and for all, den decide if it's fubar or worth doing the surgery and keeping her?

personally i'd spend money getting an ultra-trustworthy mech to fully take it apart and check exactly how healthy it is in its current state, making sure the mech knows i dont want to change anything, just a full piece-by-piece check. then get him to tell me exactly what he thinks before he puts it back together. probably would have to leave the bike overnight, and the labour cost might run up to a hundred or more, but i'd consider it worth the peace of mind and additional crucial info to decide wat exactly to do with it. then after his diagnosis i'd decide whether to make repairs based on his findings, or jut tell him to put it back together as is and ride it to the nearest shop to sell....

requires an ultra trustworthy mech, and those dont come cheap usually.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

This is my experience... I bought a bike at 6.5k...Rode for a month then found it to be a bit funny... Send it to my trusted mechanic to check... Total repair bill come up to 3K++++. Initially I feel f**k up like you but then, after everything is done up..it serves me very very well... It gave me confident to ride it alone to Northern Thailand and back...

So like some have already stated, find a trusted mechanic. Let him check 1 time and do it up 1 time swee swee and it will serve you for long. Cost wise is actually not that high... what I think is pricey are the parts... there are many minor minor parts like O-rings and gaskets that add up the cost. Also, time is a factor...My bike was "admitted" for 2 months in total but after she was discharged... not going back to the doctor again except for servicing and pre-trip check up.

Chill man...keep your bike since you have already done it up nicely... Maybe just need some expert advice and you can ride it for a very very long time..

Ok...

I AM BACK!!!!!
