Its funny how people always ask how to hide the helmet or the bike. The helmet is easy, just put it in the box or hang on bike. How to hide the bike is even more simple. You don't need to hide it, because the bike is not brought home. It is parked at the car park. I've been riding 6 years now and my dad still doesn't know. After 4 years riding, my mum saw a picture of my other half and I standing in front of our bikes under the entrance to Cambodia, then she found out.

Sometimes, some parents can never reconcile their children's riding with their own risk perceptions. Bystanders can easily take the moral high ground and advise you to be open and all. They are not wrong. But it is difficult to convince some parents who pray for your safety when u play soccer because it is 'dangerous'. Perhaps thats why I do crazy things. Some extra motivation at home that brings out the devil in me. TS, good luck.

I'm really amazed. so long and still your dad doesn't know.

You? Your dad doesn't know? That I am really surprised. What about all your long trips, riding gear etc?

Especially for those who stay their parents its very hard to hide. I have so many bike stuff lying around at home.. jackets, suit, spares, helmets, gloves etc.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Haha mayb e father know but dun want tok bout it.. All i can say is its sad that as a son he cant share his adventure with his own dad.. As for me, even though i got 2 kids, i'll always ask for my parents blessing n prayers whenever im going for long trips.. N knowing my parents, even if i dun go for long trips, they wud always pray for my safety.. N i can share my adventure, trips with my parents everytime i comes back from my each trip... My parents used to disagree with me taking bike license coz to them riding a bike is dangerous but had heart to heart tok with them n all i asked from them is to pray for my safety n e rest r history :) ... Cnt wait for my kids to grow up to c them riding big bikes so that all 3 of us can go touring 2gede :).. As of now, i can only share with them my adventure :) ...

Repost for learning...

"After few months then tell them" - That IF u still got e chance to tell them.. Mishaps do happen no matter how careful u r.. Remember, u can b very careful but not others n it juz take 1 reckless mangkuk to make it happened.. Accident happens n ive seen how a mother breakdown knowing that her son had been lying to her throughout e many years he owns a bike n there he is lying in e living room with e sarong covering his whole body n his mother juz look away in daze n didnt ack that he's her son, until his body was laid for burial, e mother refused to accept him..

Any action (b it good or bad) always have a reaction.. B fair to ur parents, they dun raise u up for u to lie to them... Lying to ur parents, especially ur mother whom had carried u in her womb for 9 mths n 10 days, will not let u live in peace let alone die in peace.. May Allah forgive u...

The long trips... I tell my parents I am going for long trip. I just didn't tell them how. The riding gears are usually in the box. When I bring them home to wash them, its always after my parents are asleep, and once dry in the morning, its locked in my cupboard until I bring it to the bike.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

I did think that maybe my mum knew but didn't talk about it. But when she found out after I rode for 4 years and I came clean since she saw the photo of me and my other half touring, she admitted to not knowing. As for my Dad, well... my parents are not normal u see. My dad is semi-senile and is an ex stroke patient with high blood pressure. My family keeps things from him because worries causes his blood pressure to go up. Bad news especially. It keeps him up awake at night and morning the blood pressure will shoot up. And my mum suffers from depression and imsonia. She gets by day to day on pills to sleep and stay sane. Kinda sad I cannot share my touring or motorcycling with them, but this is in their best interests. So well... can't be help I guess. Better my dad gets shocked learning I buang and end up in hospital than to worry himself to death day to day and slip into depression like my mum. They are too old for this.

Ur case is exceptional then, for most out there, they hide it for e wrong reason.. Since ur mum already saw it, she'll pray for ur safety bro :) ...

the way my family sees their son is more weird and confusing..my dad was a rider, rode 400cc, 600, and even 750cc bikes before. and even was a tp before! he even told me his experiences when he was rider at ny age, his outings and stuffs..but i wonder most is, why isit that he doesnt wants to see his son, be like him......hmmm put the negative points aside...wouldnt it be great to have a father and son going out for rides together and stuffs....

Yes, that would be great, but have to wait long long and also find a way to convince my wife to let my son join in.

maybe you are right bro....God could take our lives anytime...whenever i wake up i would think about those "plans" of mine and find it sinful to keep the matter away from them. sighh well kindda made up my mind, after class 2b, save money for a year, take class 2a and get a super four..i know it sounds like a long journey but my parents let me if i rode a bigger bike coz its more balanced and safe? well idk thats what they say la

why stop at class2A..half-baked licence..might as well go for class2..licence to ride any bike under the sun

i too got class 3 before i got my motorcycle licence. My parents was against me even taking lessons. The first time i took lessons they found out and successfully stopped me from taking. My break came when i was enlisted for army, actually took my lessons during night-out and got my class2B..after i got my licence, i showed my parents and get their blessings to ride..i am glad i did took the lessons and getting the licence before telling them. If i didnt do that, i would not have enjoyed the joy motorcyles brought me for the past 20 years..:)

its very true that hiding is very tiring. sometimes after work or whatever so tired already, till need to think of reasons about what was done just before. so i suggest that it's better to let them know and do things in the open.

did the exact same thing..haha. Lessons secretly on nights outs. It really feels a lot better when you consult your parents first and get their approval, although it may not be as simple for some people.

Why Ducati hypermotard? Why Ducati? BMW s1000RR or ZX-14 laa

My parents weren't against me getting the license...but was against me riding after I totaled the same bike twice and rebuilt it. Unfortunately, bikes move the soul, I found driving very mind numbing and boring, I could literally sleep on the wheel.
