You probably have to let it run in for awhile, same thing for me including the front pads. But how's the braking power? If its good enough, there shouldn't be anything to be concerned about.

Thanks for the comment. The mechanic also tell me the same thing. They need to be seasoned.

But not sure how long it will take. The drum is the one driving me nuts.

The rear brakes are still a little noisy and jerky first thing in the morning when I descend the ramps of the multistorey carpark. It has been like that since I replaced them in 2010. But its usually fine by the time I hit the roads, so that's acceptable for me. For your case bro, you get the noise every single time you use?

Got what you mean. I start to suspect that the replacement is not a perfect fit.

Do you know which brake shoes you installed for yours?

My mechanic got me an original Suzuki intruder's one I guess.

Need to nail down the exact part number of Boulevard 400's rear brake and get it shipped from Japan in order to solve our issue!

I don't think you will need an exact fit to the hub of the rear rim, bro. The shape of the brake shoes will eventually wear out enough to come into full contact with the hub. How much did you pay for it anyway? I paid $60 for it about a year ago. Its a fair bit more expensive to change than the front. If its possible to alter your braking habit, use more of your front brakes then. First you won't get annoyed with the noise and secondly, its cheaper to replace. :D

Thanks for sharing. I got mine at $48 @ Lim Ah Boy. Where do you get yours replaced?

I actually do change my braking habit. Just that sometimes cant avoid the rear braking. Plus I itchy leg, want to wear the brake out quickly.

I just cant understand why there is no perfect replacement. I learnt from web that normally for car, they have to machine the hub before replacing the brake shoes to ensure no noise after replacement. Just a bit picky and being perfectionist here. Hope you dont mind. Recently with the rainy season, the noise is really loud. In the closed carpark, the echo is deafening and definitely eye turning. Feel like no where to hide my face :{

Then the mechanic says that, he wants to try to cut the brakepad to reduce the noise. Am not sure whether it will work. Some people say it will be even worse. I have no clue here.

Hi bro,

If you ever need to change your rear brake shoes, you can go down to planet at ubi area.

Get the third party brake. If I am not mistaken, it is called NeWfren @ SGD48.

I just reluctantly let go my Boulevard. So adios and ride safe.

Hi..... Not sure if anyone is still here as this seems to have been quiet for a long time.

Is anyone selling their Boulevard 400? I'm looking at getting an 07 on, later models better. Cash purchase and quick deal.

Also, on the bike side is there any one place which seems to do a great job of servicing these bikes? People seem to mention Rosli a lot... but I'm open to suggestions from Forumers personal experience.

...... If anyone is out there, I have confirmed buying a boulevard, however the guy was having it serviced by a friend so still no idea of where to service. Help appreciated!

...... If anyone is there, any idea of where to get some louder pipes fitted? The standard are OK however I'd really like a bit more of a note, finally I want it resprayed, again any suggestions?

Hope I'm not alone as the only boulevard owner in Singapore LOL :p

Hi Hydher. I would have said yes, unfortunately I have an issue with the headlight (typical) which I need to resolve before I can take any runs. Please do invite me again, hopefully at that point I'll have my nice shiny custom light fitted.

Thanks again for asking.

Bro, would you be selling your original head lamp should you replace it? I dropped my bike some months back and the rim is dented. Looking for a replacement.

Any of you kind bros here who have an idea where I can get a replacement locally, appreciate greatly if you could share the info.

Hi. Sorry I think this had already been an issue on nine, and the replacement was (is still) a really poor Chinese copy which I'll happily pass in to you, but it's really poor.

My new lamp I can give you the link to order, they have some 5 3/4 inch at 59.95 US plus lamp approx 120 US all in, and real billet milled. Very similar to the stock.

I found the original lamps at 200-250 US unfortunately I just thought too expensive.

I have seen a few of the China made ones and they looked really poor, so I didn't follow up on it. May I bother you to share the link for the lamp you have gotten please? Will it also be alright to share a photo on how it looks like? Thanks!

The China ones you're right are awful. The one which was in the bike was actually melting.

My new lamps a 7" with custom xenon designed lamp (not HID) just xenon bulb with specific reflectors.

It's not on the bike yet, but will show a pic when on.

The site is Headwinds in the US.
