Collision with Private Bus, advice needed.

On 23 March, I was involved in an accident with a private bus at Mandai Road. The bus did an illegal u turn and collided with my bike. Fortunately, I only sustained sprained ankle and knee, but my bike was badly wreaked. the bus driver admitted his mistake and agreed to bear my medical bill and the repair cost of my Ducati. I drafted a black n white and we both signed for private settlement.

 

After a month of waiting, the quotation from Minerva came up to $18k ++, and I knew the driver couldn't afford such amount. I went to meet up with his boss, running quite a big scale company, he claimed that he is able to get Ducati parts from Italy too. He wanted my bike to be towed to his workshop for the repair.

 

I'm very skeptical over this arrangement, do I have the right to reject? I preferred my bike to be done at a reputable workshop. I'm very concern with the issues like the use of cheap replacement or non original parts, the workmanship, recycling of faulty parts etc....

 

What should I do?

I would suggest to ask him for the name of the workshop and find out if its reputable

bro, when u do write up ur black and white, do u include smthing like " u will send ur bike for repair and the other party ( bus driver) will bear the cost"

 

if it is tat way, u have the right to choose your workshop and reject the other party workshop if you dont trust him, even though the "black and white" does not include the name of workshop to be sent to.

 

I am not a lawyer, but i do claim adjuster at a pte company.

Thanks for pointing out my mistakes, this is my first occurrence with an accident. I just called up NTUC, my policy allow me to choose my preferred workshop. Also informed that late reporting will cause my NCD to be forfeited.

First accident bro. I was also being kind, which had caused me several sleepless nights. If I'd allow insurance company to handle, it would have be much easier.

Bro i really hope you could claim because there are some things like inconvenience that the fella wont pay up..When i had my crash i was stupid to settle for private settlement, didnt want to get into all the paperworks and stuff and didnt want to trouble other people..in the end..the fella only pay for my parts, and medical...MC, inconvenience etc etc who pay..? in the end i pay..the fella also didnt offer to pay..but at least he did pay up for my parts and medical la and didnt run road. lesson i learned is, next time claim..hopefully no next time la , maybe next one crash straight game over, claim also useless...

 

How's the leg?hope its not too bad...mine was just a bruised ankle, first couple of day immobile...after that then can limp at least..
