U can still get the insurance from elsewhere unless your finance agreement stated that u must buy insurance through them, but u got to notify the insurance company that your bike is under hire-purchase. But if there's such a ridiculous clause in the agreement, then I suggest u buy your next bike elsewhere.

U mean u buying insurance for a brand new bike? Then I think u gotta buy insurance from through the bike shop at least for the first time. It's definitely more expensive than u pay full cash cos the interest + agreement fee already costs u a bomb. If u do a proper calculation, u are paying more than 50% of the original price of that bike.

now i use directasia. but they got alot of conditions if you want to use them. first and foremost, you have to be 25 years old to buy their motorbike insurance. my insurance for st11 from ntuc cost me about $770. from directasia, only $466. no words to describe my disappointment with ntuc pricing. anyway, directasia super user-friendly and good. i did everything online.

and for buying brand new bike, if you taking loan, they usually will force you get insurance from them. number 1, cause they will need you to get minimum 2nd party insurance because the bik is not fully paid. number 2, obviously they can earn commission off you by forcing you to get insurance from them. so honestly, full cash is the best. no cash, please try to save and buy.

for me, all my bikes, i borrow money from my dad n returned him with 6 months. no interest, no worries, no hassle. haha! if no money, i just tell him, n of course he is ok with it. :) i hate loans from shop. e amount of hidden clauses is ridiculous.

Wow i just did a online quite from directasia. It quite me 3rd pt (without fire and theft), only 254. currently with ntuc which quite me 4xx for the same policy.

Going to call on monday to find out price for 3rd pt with fire and theft. Dunno how to change e quote settings online. Lol. If e price is good will call my agent to make demands. Lol

Price diff is so huge, any underlying issues we need to take note?

The differences between directasia and others are not that much for older riders with more experiences. I rather pay a bit more for TPFT.

Axa cost a hole when I received their quotation. $700+ for tpft with 3000+ excess. I called Allianz and they don't do bike anymore. Any others to recommend ?

U can try calling 6747 6648 "one stop insurance". i think they r middle man type and can help u get quotes from various insurance coy.

For my s4, was with mitsui. Now fz1 with ntuc. If u worry about agent fees, after letting them help u compare u can then bypass?

But i stay with one stop becoz i find their service is good and less effort for me. Renewal i just need call in. Maybe it is e basic service of agents.

Many agents are not quoting insurance for bikes cos too many bikers do that. Try put yourself in their shoe.

Sadly when e insurance coys decided to up their price across e board becoz they r losing $ to bad claims, i dun recall being asked for an opinion.

I noe tat bypass agent is not entirely fair, but when business chops e carrot customer, r they being fair?

For me as long as e agent price is not too much above wat e coy is offering then i dun mind. But i guess this is individual's decision.

Eg: i sent my bike for service at a shop's whose price is confirm higher but I'm comfortable with it. The service level and e trust i get more than covers e extra i pay.

As for me, I'll usually select a 2-3 insurance companies and call to request for quotation. Will just buy from the one that offers me the better price. I prefer not to go through any agent or shop, cos they usually quote whichever with higher comm rate.

Just a update, directasia does not sell 3rd pt with fire and theft. So too bad.

Hi there. We recently introduced both Third Party, Fire and Theft and full Comprehensive insurance for Motorcycles at the start of June, to add to our Third Party Only insurance.

I hope that's helpful .....
