Defensive Driving/Riding Course covered by SAF?

If dont have defensive driving/riding course, cannot drive/ride into camp is it?

 

Does anyone know if the courses are fully covered or subsidized by SAF?

 

BBDC quoted me $50 for defensive riding

 

$195 per pax for group of three or $340 for individual for defensive driving.

yes you need to take defensive riding to ride to camp. and does not mean you got the cert you can ride in. you must sign some sort of agreement form back at your unit then get the defensive riding sticker pasted on your 11b then only can ride. some camps got defensive riding pass which they would make for you. only defensive riding taken at SSDC is fully subsidised by SAF. BBDC and CDC not covered. and if you want to take at SSDC you got to fill up the subsidy form and get it endorsed by your officer/encik and take that form to SSDC and register to enjoy the subsidy. or if you don't want you can go to other driving centres and use your own money to take.

first,

 

go talk to your PS say that u wanna take defensive riding, he shld give u a form for it.

 

you will then get some in-camp chop from the guard house warrant. you got to find out yourself who it is.

 

then after u confirm u got the chop and sign or whatever, u can go down SSDC(mine was SSDC) to bk app. bring the form with u.

 

then after confirm the date, u wait until the day comes, finished liao u will get a cert, which u then bring it and give to your PS or whoever.

 

then they will help u proccess. THEN they will give u a sticker or whatever to paste in your 11B or camp pass.

 

then u can ride into camp.

 

it may seems long and complicated, but trust me, it's worth it especially if your camp is far from your place.

 

like mine, gedong camp. knn 1 bus go in only. u hv no idea how much time i save every bk in and bk out compared to others.

take the form from your unit S1/manpower branch then go down ssdc. dont need a single cent from your pocket

Compare the rates. SAF only subsidises for SSDC. See how much higher SSDC is charging? And the buzz word now is corruption ...

I am not sure too. However, I kind of remember the booklet says for personnel riding into camp. I am sure there is no harm asking!

 

Anyway I took my Defensive Riding in July 12 from SSDC. As what @Maja said, I was given a booklet by my CQ or sort. in the booklet, there is this form, which allows you to go SSDC to book the DR without paying. After you passed, bring back the certificate, you will be issued a sticker to paste on ur 11b to certify you are DF cleared!

Approach your PS/SM, there is a form to fill and they need to make a copy of your DR cert before issuing the sticker.

 

It is a white round sticker with the SAF logo and a serial number.

class 2b is a lic. defensive riding is another thing-is a cert,which u need to access into army camp in your ns life

Nope! There isn't! You just have to complete the whole thing! Its more like a refresher!

Depends on how strict the guard is, some as long as got camp pass or a reason to visit the camp, they will just let you in.
