1st Party comprehensive- Basically covers everything including mischief to your vehicle, accident claims etc

2nd party also known as third party fire and theft covers in an event your bike is stolen or victim of arson only

3rd party none of above, insures that your bike can be ridden on roads

Logically 1st party is the most expensive..

Hope it helps..

I can't give an exact amount of adding subrider

Different companies has different charges

Best is to enquire from them personnally

1st Party, Comprehensive

If you buang, you can claim from your own insurance company the damages to your bike and your own medical fees, basically everything like what SeribuCC mentioned. Inclusive of 2nd Party and 3rd Party coverage.

2nd Party, 3rd Party Plus Fire & Theft

Your bike will be covered from incidents of theft and arson. Inclusive of 3rd party.

3rd Party

If you hit someone, vehicle, government property, your insurance will cover the damages you dealt to others in event of your fault. E.g You hit a car's backside because you tailgated him, the driver will claim from your insurance so you don't have to fork out your own money to pay him. But you can't claim your own insurance for your own damages, because it's only 3rd party coverage.

Hope it is easy to understand.

Usually if your bike is under hire purchase, you have to take a minimum coverage of 3rd Party plus Fire & Theft (meaning the so-called 2nd Party Coverage).

Insurance premiums are very dependent on your coverage, age and bike. E.g my father buy Super 4 2nd party only $190 I think. For me it's.... like... 3 x more. My 2nd party for new 1000 cc bike is about $2k, but 3rd party only $800.

If you do not have any liability, there are a few circumstances which you can consider insuring your bike with different coverage. If your bike is old, going to change soon (1 year maybe), low value... Just get 3rd Party. If your bike is new, try to get at least 2nd party incase of theft, so you won't stab yourself in the heart.

For comprehensive coverage (1st party), it's kinda personal. Some people think they won't buang, or they won't get into a accident, won't get 1st party coverage. 1st party coverage is alot more expensive.

Seeking advice from riders here. 21 and 22 yr old got diff in insurance? I renewed second year insurance with Mitsui. They charge me 360 for 3rd party after no claim bonus. The start date of the second year insurance is 4 days after my 22nd birthday. Are they chopping me? or 21 and 22 yr old no diff in price?
