Ok, had a pretty bad day yesterday. Was stopped by LTA and my exhaust had the silencer removed. GPR exhaust. I didn't remove the silencer. The exhaust was sold to me without a silencer by another seller but due to my lack of knowledge, I didn't know the silencer was missing. Anyway, was told to go to VICOM for inspection, found out the hard way.

Apparently VICOM gave me more problems and they said my racing footrest not allowed, my rectangle mirros not allowed, rear disc brake not allowed. Im riding Spark 135. They want me to change everything and bring it back to Inspection again before 25th.

They want me to change all those parts so the thing is i don't want to spend so much money to change back all to stock parts because honestly I've seen alot of bikes with racing footrest, rectangle mirrors and rear disc brakes pass inspection also. I know exhaust is the main problem.

My question is can I bring to the bike shop and ask them to inspect for me? Cause i don't wanna buy the parts cause its gonna cost alot. And if possible, which bike shop can do it? Or do i have to go down personally. So basically my intention is just to change the exhaust.

Please advise bros, thanks.

- don't know if can send shop to send for u in this case. As it's a lta case.

- u see ppl do does not mean it's ok. Racing footrest lower ur effectiveness of the rear braking

- if its not stock in singapore it's more then likely its illegal. Rear disc brake for ur bike is not oem

- the mirror. I no comment ar.

once you get caught den u have to do it, LTA dun care if u wanna pay that extra money anot on your bike to turn it stock.. for now u ll get fine for the exhaust and if u do not change ur foot rest mirrors and rear disc back to stock u ll suffer more fines... and for ur info exhaust fine is 500 i tink not too sure some said is 700... ride safe bro and best is ride in stock.. LTA v strict nowadays.. and its better to get that silencer fast..

and in singapore sometimes even stock condition can be deemed as illegal cos i saw some posts by our bros here stating the vicom's standard for road legal is very high

its been so long...

It doesnt matter if you or bikeshop send the bike for inspection. As long as your bike is converted back to stock. That's all.

If you are saying that the pipe seller sold you the pipe w/o silencer & you didnt know, it means when you bought and fix the pipe onto your bike, you didnt went for pipe inspection? Coz if you did, you wud have known. Which Vicom you go that said rectangle mirrors are illegal?

Tell him you were only told to go for pipe inspection & not bike inspection. Try another Vicom.

FYI exhaust fine is $500, not $700. Go around and ask bikeshops if they have a stock pipe to lend you temporarily so that you can go inspection.

Good luck Pal !!!

But one thing I can't agreed is the brake disc... It's just utter nonsense...

Going back to stock even it's worn off ??? That indirectly monopolistic the market...

Brand like EBC, Braking etc not as good as stock ??? Or need to be approve just like the exhaust...

Distributor charges exorbitant price for the transfer "paperwork"...

They just catch for the sake of catching cos the LAW say so...

If you want to keep the bike...must spend the money..

After all you still need to face LTA in the future..especially your bike is marked..

hi TS, you might also want to try write in an appeal on the eventual fine you are going to get, mainly for the exhaust offence.

That's assuming that you truly didnt know that the silencer was removed though.. but it's worth a try.

good luck buddy!

Yeap, if appealed successfully, it will be reduced to $200.

sorry i don't get it.. what's wrong with rear disc brakes..?all sport bikes have them..it's much safer than drums.

Some bikes doesn't come OEM with disc brake, thus in the eye of the law (vicom, lta and etc), it is illegal to change any parts of the bike that does not come equipped from the manufacturer. Applies to TS bike as he is riding spark 135.

Now disc brake also they want to disturb ah? Nothing else better to do? Too much free time? What the heck!

Does LTA has a list of the "Äpproved" brake disc ?

As mention earlier, going back to the OEM is another form of monopolistic act...

LAW is set by human...

They just want to save trouble, by giving us a fine for not using the OEM... Also helps to generate revenue by riding on top of the "SAFETY" factor...

Pipe mod, $500... Successful appeal, $300... Mirrors $30, footrest $30/$50/$70, disc brake $70... U can try appealing for the brake disc and mirrors cos from what I know, as long as there're mirrors, they can't summon u for it... Brake try luck, pipe sure summon but appeal to lower the fine cos you're first time offender... As for the stock parts, u try sanfu at kaki bukit autobay, #02-43... they helped me out with my tzm inspection parts... But of course, u have to pay them to help u settle the issues... Good luck... Hope u learnt something through this...

I think what they're saying is that on that particular model, at least for the older ones, of the Spark 135, it's supposed to be drum brakes? And got converted to disc brakes. Under LTA regs, that one....well.....

i heard from a mech that for over size disc must be round. it cannot have those edge design or it will not pass inspection.

Hey thanks guys. Kena stopped at the highway. I've asked the shop to do it and went to seng kwang to weld a new silencer for me. STA can go exhaust inspection?

hmm.. isnt seng kwang making an 'aftermarket silencer'?inspection can pass? usually the exhaust manufacturer has diagrams of the endcan an silencer mdea by them. When you go for insption, the inspector will ask for that 'diagram' before checking your endcan.

anyway, all inspection centres use a common system. So if a certain problem was identified at, let's say STA, VICOM and JIC will also know about it.Unless the inspectors at other centrs bo chap...
