Aaaiyaaaah! When everything good, sp is the most shiok thing around. But v v xian when every now & again 1 by 1 the 14 yr old parts start giving way - brake pump, 2t pump sprocket, forks & exhaust gaskets, clutch, chain, light wirings. Now exhaust pipe sprung a leak somewhere below radiator level! hv big wet & oily patch there is very strong burnt 2t smell around when at traffic lights or stop lines.

Do places like chong aik, everfit & fjt also sell replacement exhaust pipe? Anyone knows of anyone or place that sells 2nd hand exhaust pipes?

Hi Seniors, can share the info about inspection date.

1. How long can it be done in advance (max) before the inspection date?

2. Also what is fine / penalty if the inspection date is expire still haven't pass.

Regarding questn 1, u will receiv the lnspectn letter 2-3mth b4 yr insur expire.

Regarding questn 2, I dono wat is the penalty/fine. But if u don pass inspectn, cannot renew road tax ( carry penalty if renew late) n Insur. I ever heard my fren say, if road tax NT renew, they will come down n clamp yr vehicle in a few days time. Theorectically, yr vehicle cannot even move wo valid road tax n insur. Wat for look for trouble?

Erm. Normally u nd to have the letter to bring along for inspectn. Meaning if too early, u cant go. If lost letter, u better call up LTA n ask. Don think u wana waste time go inspectn centres n gt rejected.

:p actually WATS yr concern abt inspectn? I always go bukit Batok vicom. The technician quite lenient, in my opinion.

Well... some told me that 1 month before inspection date, I was just thinking (due to very old bike) when it need to do the replacement part it might need more time to get. Also trying gathering all info when time come soon. ;)

Don't need too kancheong. Worse come worse, if initial inspection fail, there are shops that 'help' send for inspection. Any parts that will fail or faulty, they will t-loan you their set first so you pass. Of course, u'll need to pay a fee lah. Then you have all the time to fix it unless you wanna kena fined by TP if you suey and get stopped on the roads.

As for the brake adjustment thing, if i'm not wrong, it has something to do with the brake fluid level.

After inspection pass, they give u a cert. Take the cert go to LTA office (there should be 1 at the inspection ctr), take queue number & wait to be called. There & then can settle your road tax liao. Oh ya bring the road tax discs they posted earlier to you also. Dont have also no prob, they post the new disc to you.

Ok thank bro.

So the new road tax date is base on that day (when apply new road tax) start or add on (continue) to the previous road tax date.

As you know that seem it do the inspection in advance (03 month early) before they sent letter for inspection. If the new road tax count as new date itself then the old road tax will be lost 03 month before it expire.

extend 6mths or 12mths (you choose) from the date on prev road tax. But make sure your insurance can cover that period 1st.

Thats why after I renewed my road tax in aug, I also extended my insurance validity for another 4 mths (16 mths total), so that when my next 6 mth road tax renewal in feb, that 6 mths is also covered by insurance liao. Otherwise cant renew road tax.

Hi, paiseh kinda out of topic, would like to ask if anyone changed their wheel bearings before and how much it cost arh?

Recently like wobble at normal and low speed riding, got it check at shop and mech say needa change but I abit reluctant to change, every month need to change this and that haiz...

Posted

Actually now a lot of things all online already. Bike don't put road tax disc also ok one. If ever get stopped, they can check online very easily. Insurance also can save pdf version on phone. Once you finish your inspection, you can go axs pay road tax, then straightaway can ride off.

Wheel bearing i changed before, but can't remember price, only know it's about 100 or so. Wobble may be steering cone though. To check if it's wheel bearing, lift the wheel off the ground, then use your hand to grip the wheel and try to shake it left and right while pointing the wheel straight. If the wheel is shaky, then it's wheel bearing issue. By right, shouldn't be able to shake left or right.

RIDE.

yup. just try to settle earlier since the new inspection and road tax expiry date is not based on the date u renew.

I tried and the rear wheel wobble quite badly i feel as i compare to the front one which the bearing seems to gone bad too.

100 plus only? o.0? Was told sp using pro arm, bearing quite costly comparing to normal bike.

Genius & Heathx,

Oh, jus leave after inspection also can ah? Thanks for the tip! All the while I thought need to show officer the cert as proof of passing inspection in order to renew! Wah thanks again. So much easier in future for me.

As in, after you finished inspection and all paperwork done, they upload your pass records into computer, then you can ride off already. Road tax can buy from AXS, make sure your insurance got coverage also.

Rear wheel bearing is high 100+ if i remember correctly. but shouldn't be more than 200. It's the labour that will be expensive. Bearing chui is dangerous, best to go fix it soon.

My mech funny. That time he checked for me le, then saw the rear wheel bearing chui. He give me a very worried face, then go toilet wash hands. Then he come out, hug me, then say "thank god you still in one piece." LOL! Joker...

Didn't know labour is expensive cause the front wheel cost way lesser compared to rear wheel. No choice lor, needa change since it would cause wobbling. Recently tried changing lane on expressway also wobble.

Lolx if we are talking about same mech who you introns to me, I wouldn't be surprised . Haha.

I know he very concerned about people safety on bike.
