I bought Castrol Power 1 Racing 2T from LAB.

 

Guess what. It's fake. Not even the right colour! Smells like a mineral oil. God knows what it will do to your bike.

 

If this is what LAB are willing to sell, I imagine half their other stuff is FAKE too.

 

Off to get a refund tomorrow, wish me luck.

Be very careful with castrol made in malaysia. Was warned by a few bikeshops in jb that theres too many FAKE/IMITATION castrol out there in the market. Was told even the authorised dealer/distributor couldnt do anything about it.

if you are that worried, stick to brands that are not made in Malaysia. Chex, Motul etc.

Genuine Castrol 2T Racing 1 is green in colour. It also smells like some kind of plastic (I have spilt enough over the years to know what it looks and smells like).

This stuff is brown, and smells like BAD mineral oil - the cheap stuff you pay $10 for 4L. The cap is also the wrong colour, the safety seal is badly applied, there are no graduations marked on the bottle.

 

I use Power 1 for flying - microlighting. I know how bad it can be when the engine dies. Similar thing happens as when a bike engine seizes and you go for a slide under a truck. These guys are playing with lives...

I bought some synthetic Mobil 2T, looks and smells right, also some Motul, all good.

Lesson: Stay away from Castrol, and if it seems cheap it probably is.

They're originally good at selling "original" stuff... And their "original" is equivalent to our fake... So don't bother going there to look for original stuff... Even their original stuff are made in china...

I used to go there during my old riding days about more than 16 years ago. I remember I used to buy the helmet wind shield from the shop. He is selling at $6 whereby other shop was selling at $14. I happened to pass through the area recently and looked into the shop. Saw the same Ah Boy with his own unique style of serving customers.
