Congrats on passing your class 2b license. Just got my license too a few months back, Im riding a 125z, insurance arnd 1k. For honda sp since its a sportbike the insurance would cost more....around 1.3 or more. Best is to call up different insurance companies to get quotation for your insurance(must provide them your personal particulars n the number plate of the bike you intend to buy). Hope it helps, cheers :shades:

Touch wood. since 20 yrs ago, it has always been that price. especially more if you take brand new bike or even buy from shop where they insist you take comprehensive.. touch wood , many of us HAVE TO BUY that price, but we never get to claim it. BUT WHAT HAPPEN if our family member get to claim. how much will they get if rider is not guilty at all in accident.

Congrats!

Before buying your first sportsbike, FIRST please equip yourself the followings:

1.) An armor jacket that comes with shoulders+elbows+back protectors($200-$300+):

As a p-plater, the 1st 6mths you will most likely going to screw up someway while riding. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying you are not good. I just want you to enjoy your bike and at the same time knowing that you are protected. Rest of the time, cars/lorries/bikes/pedestrian/road conditions/weather will give you a minor heart attack periodically. Again, even if you need to go down(touchwood), at least you have some protection.

2.) A good pair of gloves that protects ur palms, fingers and knuckles($50-$70+):

When we fall or slide, our natural reaction is to stretch out our hands. So guaranteed 99% our palms is going to suffer. Same goes for our knuckles and fingers. Imagine how you going to carry on riding if you hands are injured. Will take weeks to fully recover...

3.) A fullface helmet($150-200+):

Come on man. You are going to ride a SP, a handsome sportsbike, a well-known chick magnet so must have some image :) Jokes aside, if a head-first superman fall is going to happen, your chin, face and nose will be safe. Sure, those lousy cheapskate unapproved open face helmet flows more air but crash how? Trust me, the so-called "very hot and stuffy" fullface helmet stories only applies to the 80's. You will be surprised how well ventilated a good modern fullface is. Extra bonus, when checking blindspots, a fullface won't shift much so your head won't wobble even at high speed. You will look cool anywhere, anytime.

4.) A mid-cut riding boots, preferably waterproof($150-$250+):

Converse is easy to wear but also easy to come out when sliding across tarmac. Ankles will bleed. Bones will be exposed. Blood will be everywhere. And the pain will be hell! Legs injured cannot kick gear, meaning can't ride. I think you get the idea.

Sms me 90991225. I can bring you around Sg if you need help viewing bikes and to hunt for the above gears(according to your budgets) but don't know where to find. Just buy me a coke will do.

Welcome to the biker's family.

Even a normal bike, (or a cub), I think it should be everyone's priority to be attired like that. Never compromise on safety.

Stay safe. Always check the blind spot.

Thanks for all the input! :)

And to bro Veil, i will let you again if i need help. Thanks!

No problem!

To share with u, i passed my 2B on Feb 2011 and got my 2003 Honda Cg 125 a month later. Its just a very normal street bike but i insisted on wearing jeans, protective gloves, waterproof riding shoes that covers my ankles, a good fullface helmet and even an airbag vest most of the time. Of course i get a lot of those "Dude, you are overdressed" looks and teasings but who cares man! I feel safe knowing that if i fall, i can most certainly stand up and walk off with zero to minimal body damage. I have a really nice gf so i make it a point keep my mind sane and myself alive each time i hit the road.

I got my 2A on Nov 2012 and my chopper, a Honda Steed Vse 400 in Dec. And you know what? The first i did was to get a new pair of gloves($100) which offers me better protection, a full armor jacket($400) and a pair of waterproof boots($200) that protects my shins. I realised that, should anything happen, the higher engine capacity and speed of my Honda Steed puts me at a greater risk so all the more i must upgrade my gears to a better level.

Yes, i spent a lot but still better than spending it on hospital bills...

Grats TS on passing your 2b. I envy you, me a soon to be 20 year old is still waiting for TP. Anyway for the other bros, any idea if having a class 3 for 1 year plus will lower down the insurance for a just passed 2b rider?

Bro, try timberland. Go their IMM factory outlet. Their boots are waterproof and durable. The price there is reasonable as compared to the ones at the other boutiques. Older models so they're cheaper. If u can afford the newer ones, go vivo or raffles city timberland. They also sell gortex(waterproof maerial) jacket. A bit ex though.. Best go their factory outlet.. IMM or changi point.

Having a class 3 wun lower ur insurance. I had my class 3 for abt 11yr before i got my 2B last feb. My 3rd party cost me $317. My age was then 33 so i guessed its more of ur age group when it comes to price.
