Is it possible that Town Council is bullying the bikers?

(ROOT OF THE PROBLEM) (Current problem)

Repeated cases of vandalism happening at Upper Boon Keng Road Blk 5 MCP is occurring at an alarming rate. Earliest date as much as 1 year ago Last spotted vandalism was on 4th Jan 2013. ( Apart from Vandal pushing the whole row of bikes down, there were two separate occasions whereby two different bikes exploded on two different dates)

 

 

(Actions taken by desperate victims)

victims were forced to look for alternate parking. Because of vehicles being vandalized repeatedly.

There are occasions whereby we see our bikes lying on the floor after a night of parking in the car park, but we do not even have time to call the police because we have to rush to work.

 

 

(Town Council’s dispute with victims)

And now the Town Council is not very please with the fact that the victims are looking for alternate parking. And they are intending to take legal action against the victims of the repeated cases of vandalism.

 

The reason why they are doing so is because the town council do NOT recognize the fact that the vehicles in the car park were vandalized repeatedly.

 

 

In addition town council has clearly stated that victims of the repeated vandalism case are refusing to park properly because we are just plain lazy. I feel that town council should provide us with a solution instead of taking legal actions against us.

 

I have seen the MP many many many times.

 

MP has appealed for me many many many times.

 

But town council refuse to provide us with a solution.

 

The only action they will be taking is to send the victims to court, and fine us for not parking in that DANGEROUS car park.

 

Can you imagine???

All in All vehicles have been vandalized at the very same spot for AT LEAST 7 times. And other parts of the car park about 5 times

and on two different occasion, two different bikes exploded on two different dates.

Though, there are some points which I don't understand or it is unclear to me.

 

Firstly, what is the alternate parking you are talking about? Pavements, grassy patch or whatnot?

 

Secondly, on what grounds would the town council sue the victims? What is their proposed solution to your problems, if any? Are they concerned about the pictures?

 

Thirdly, what is the stand of the police? I believe that the police were involved multiple times when the vandalism occurred, especially during the explosions which is very serious.

 

Fourthly, what is your MP's reply based on your appeal? Is he even concerned about the pictures? As MPs are advisers and/or representatives of the town council of their respective GRC, they should have a significant standing and should be able to take action based on the seriousness of the events.

 

Fifthly, is there any appeal done on the national level? This is not to be taken lightly and the higher authorities should be notified, should their subordinates be unconcerned.

2. Because we park at the void decks due to the UNSAFE car parks, they have decided to fine us. And when we appeal they reject us. then we appeal again multiple times through the MP. They also rejected his appeal. We proposed for them to have more bike lots at the lower decks where it is more prominent and vandals will think twice before doing anything. But it fell on deaf ears. They are NOT concerned about the pictures at all. In fact Town Council believes the reason why we park at void deck is because we want convenience, they are TOTALLY oblivious about the fact that the car park is UNSAFE.

 

3. Police said they cannot do anything, they have increased patrols but still no lead there is nothing they can do. And they even ended by saying it is not just the police's responsibility that the car park is unsafe, we as bikers have to do our part too. 4. The MP did show signs that he is sorry for us, and he always help us to write in the appeal, when i probe further all he could tell me was that his appeal wasnt successful, and town council still have the authority to make the final decision.

 

5. i havent been able to find time to appeal and blow this up on a national level, i just managed to squeeze some time to have it posted on the bike forums first, i wish to gather the consensus from all bikers here first before i go ahead to blow things up.

Yes. I as a fellow Singaporean feel that these lazy and mean workers should have their names taken down and submitted by your fellow residents to a higher authority. They should really do something about it soon as it is costing them votes if it angers a large population.

Yes buddy, i do have all the mentioned above. It is very disappointing that the government is responding in such a sloppy manner with regards to such pressing issues.

I don't mind paying a bit more for season if they install CCTV at every deck. However, my MSCP got police cameras at the staircase and entrance.

There is clearly a sicko vandalising bikes and cars. Park void deck, tio summon, pay money. Park car park, tio vandal, pay money repair. Tough choice.

 

Good luck catching him or appealing. MPs letters... I have no confidence in our man in white having their assistants write letters. Maybe I'm too cynical, but I think they are overpaid and underworked in their MP role.

 

By the way, which car park huh? So the rest of us can avoid? Not to rub salt in your wounds.. But I do park Boon Keng once a week due to work

 

Lastly, I don't think town council bullying bikers. They are just following "law-by-law". You can consider it red-tape or inflexibility. And they are definitely not taking bikers/drivers seriously. Note that cars were vandalised and you have no proof the drivers were treated differently. Hence there is no evidence of discrimination of bikers. Its sloppy town council problem management.

I don't think the town council is bullying the bikers. And I don't think they are so free to go bully specific groups as well.

 

Maybe town council concern is, if everyone start using this as an excuse to park anyhow everywhere, then there is another set of problem like road blockage etc. And some real lazy buggers might make use of this excuse to park below their block as well. Imagine nobody parks their vehicles at the MSCP and all park anyhow below their blocks. Looks chaotic as well. That will invite another set of problem.

 

I think if the vandaliser want to vandalise things, he will just vandalise anywhere. If he discover all the vehicles has shifted elsewhere, he will just go the where the majority of the vehicles are at and strike. So asking the Town council to provide alternative parking doesn't sound like solving the root cause anyway.

 

I think the responsiblility is on the police to speed up the investigation and catch the culcript. As for town council, maybe they should start consider installing CCTV that actually records 24/7. I got a feeling some is for show. If you still think police and town council are not pro active enough, I think last resport is really to gather few of the victims and start taking turns to camp at the carpark.

 

Lastly, sorry for what happen to your vehicle. Mine was also found lying on the ground once at my carpark and I feel the pain as well.

I dont think they even know thay we are being bullied by them!

 

1st. They have imposed heavy fines DURING this situation to the victims who seek safety parking elsewhere. e.g. hiding their bikes. They stand by their book that anyone who park elsewhere will be heavily fined.

 

2nd. They do not waive the fines and despite being explained of the situation. Mp also called in a few times but they give the victims a cold shoulder and a hard time.

 

3rd. They do not even put in effort to install security cameras or organize an effective neighborhood watch team to stake out the night.

 

4th. The police have been notified so many times and yet the vandals can do it for the 7th time????? Yet when you watch crimewatch, they seem to be very quick to catch the offenders.

YES. TAI CHI. They push around till the someone finally decides whose job is it. I moved into my new house since last July. My water supply gets interrupted daily at peak hours. I called PUB, HDB, Town Council, Building maintenance total about 15 times. Till now... NOW.. 2013 already.. Problem goes unsolved. I have to tolerate the problem everyday.

 

How can they not be resolved to help the residents? The victims? And instead be unbending, inflexible and not show a single ounce of sympathy to the victims??

TS, you should compile all these and send to opposition party! Ask them to voice out for you in parliament. Let this case be a good example that will be used in the next election rally!

 

They were really right. No opposition, the people's voice goes unnoticed. The PAP broke their promise that they will change their way of managing issues. They treat bus drivers unfairly then lock them up and persecute them when they went on strike. What made them go on strike? Think its only one time they voiced out?

 

What is the swift justice done against people holding high positions when they commit adultery, use church money, knock down pedestrian, use sex for favors, etc....
