Guys, what abt goretex material?its definitely more EX rite?but does it gives more protection than those mesh ones?

Goretex is actually waterproof but yet due to the composition of its material, it actually permits ur sweat to 'diffuse' out fr the jac...*guaranteed to keep u dry...*

Cordura is a tough material used for most jacs...some mix it wif Goretex.

Fieldsheer has some very good warm-weather jackets. I got myself a Mach-3 mesh jacket, which has all the appropriate CE armor, but is so porous that at night you can actually feel the wind chill. It also includes a rain jacket in the integrated waistpouch. You can carry it around or remove the rain jacket and put something else in there. Really neat.

Where did you get your fieldsheer from n how much? pm me if you're more comfortable in revealing price that way, thanks.

I also interested in Fieldsheer jackets.

I think Fieldsheer must imported online. I don't think anyone in Singapore is carrying it. Same for some other good value-for-money brands like Joe Rocket and AGV Sport. I think I've seen Teknic in Singapore before, but I forgot who carries the brand.

But like what throttle said, one cent money - one cent goods. You can't hope to get a superb jacket and pay very little for it. But if you look hard, there are surely great deals around.

Yep...check out e-bay for some great deals on jackets....... got a fieldsheer mach-3 from rhema83 if i'm not wrong and the air-flow is pretty gd..... can even feel the wind when not moving....

Excellent jacket for its price, especially when it comes with a rain jacket for wet weather. But i do find the armor a tad to stiff compared to the Dainese ones. The latter's really flexible while not compromising on safety. Really tempted to get another Dainese jacket....... keke

jackets are damn important... but like wad one our felow rider mentioned.. nothing beats the toughness of leathers...

I was wearing a Clover air-tek... which is a mix of textile and mesh. being most part of it made of textile. got it for $300+ at chiap lee. very good ventilation. if i'm not wrong its coruda, tough material... well all i can say is that this kinda of jacket or even a fully mesh one, can save you some skin in the event of a crash/fall... i crashed at high speed and slide for quite a distance... the jacket did save me quite alot of skin, tho i did lost some skin... i wld say the jacket took 80% of the damage, not to mention my gloves and boots... jackets gloves and boots are very important, get one that suits ur riding style... these kinda jackets which are not leather, can save you up to certain speeds... leathers wld be a betta choice if you are riding at high speeds or long distance...

it seemed to me now its money well invested in the safety equipment. safety must not be compromised... jackets alone are not enugh but stil betta than nothing

now let take a look at how the safety gears saved me:

Clover jacket: badly torn, took 80% of damage, still lost some skin tho

Oxtar boots : saved my ankle from being twisted, some bruises below the ankle

long leather gloves with carbon knuckle: carbon knuckle scraped (saved my

knuckles) palm area badly damaged, hands totally unhurt except for

a sprained right wrist)

Ful face helmet: saved my chin from scraping the tarmac. below part of chin small

abrasion

Jeans: HOPELESS... didn't help much... left side of thigh bad abrasion...

jeans torn beyond recognition...

so safety gear is very important. it doesn't come into use till a fall, which we hope wouldn't happen... dress for the fall not for the ride...

invest in good safety equipment and ride safe guys! :thumb:

Teknic is quite a good brand. However it is known for its quality-for-money leather. I don't think you will like wearing leather in hot Singapore. Moreover, leather is really bad for wet weather.

Arcfire, it's good to hear that you like the jacket. If it is nice for Singapore, then I made the right choice by selling it, because it will be way too cold for my place. I hear from my riding friends that they take out the armor (especially the shoulder and back) usually to make the jacket fit the body better and to make carrying backpacks easier.

Right now I am wearing a Joe Rocket Reactor S jacket for local commuting. It is made of textile with leather reinforcements over the shoulder and arms. (I removed the armor, since they are just dual-density foam and not CE plastic.) Although it has vents, it is still quite warm in 20+ deg C weather, so it's definitely not suitable for Singapore. Similarly, I have had a Komine textile jacket when I was in Singapore and it was too warm for daily use. So I don't recommend them. Mesh is probably a better bet. Just make sure you get one with reinforced shoulder and elbow protection.

Is Reactor S = Reactor 2 ? I have posted some Joe Rockets Jacket (Namely the Alter-Ego, the Suzuki GSXR and the Rasp) for sale....

For a layman like me, the Rasp looks like the one that score straight A's in the safety department... but I somehow feels that it looks a tat too flashy :cheeky:

No, bro. Reactor S is a discontinued model. I very much prefer the design of the old Reactor jackets. The Joe Rocket Reactor (1.0) jacket had 2 versions: the "S" and the "perforated" (aka mesh). The "perforated" version is now being replaced by the Reactor 2.0.

The "S" model has leather on the shoulder and the outer side of the arms. It also comes with a thermal liner (quite warm down to 3 deg-C ambient temp), and has dual-density foam armor over the elbows, shoulders and back. It is made of water-resistant, wind-proof Rocktex (like Cordura) and has zippered vents for ventilation (very useful).

Replace the leather parts with Rocktex, and the original Rocktex parts with double-layer mesh, and you have the "perforated" version. Logically it does not come with a thermal liner, but it has the same armor as the "S" version. It also retails for less.

If you want to import them, do it quick because it is on closeout now.

The Alter-Ego is awesome for Singapore use. Remove the Rocktex panels and you have a great mesh for hot days. When it gets cold or starts drizzling, just zip on the panels! Now, how much are they going for?

The supplier is releasing all his JR Jackets (all 3 models) for SGD186 (RMB855), which I think is a pretty good buy (The link is in my signature)

Remember the FieldSheer Jacket that I did on "Riding Related Stuff... in China Thread" earlier on? Nobody was interested then. Now, there is actually a thread that ask people where to buy FS jackets... ha ha ha. In fact, there were like at least 6 riders PMed me for the FS Jacket after they were sold out! No one knew about FieldSheer, now everybody is rushing for it.

I have a very strong feeling that history is gonna repeat itself for the Joe Rockets as well... :weep:
