I found two places with hospital bed for rent. 😅 I think the main thing is getting up and lying down might be hard for him at first. So the motorized bed would help.

Unfortunately I'm usually not with them when they see the Dr.

my cousin just had open heart surgery to repair/replace valve and one bypass. Super unfit person. After 24 hrs can sit up in bed already 😂 he said my father should have no problem 😉

my mom's the one holding back in making decisions. She wants to see how my father is after surgery first. So I just threw in the hospital bed rental as an option. Move my girls out of their room... 😂 I think my parents are stuck here for 6-8 weeks, at least!

Adjustable bed frames? hehee

https://vertexmobility.com.sg/product-category/wheelchairs/

depending on whether someone is going to be wheeling all the time... the smaller wheels are easier to move around and manage. But the bigger wheels are for those who wants to move themselves around. Unless you get those electric type.

Need to faster call n secure it 1st.. even my wheelchair i almost had problem renting it cos apparently according to the vendors, theres alot of ppl injuring their legs recently.. hahaha.. i think i can only put down my leg down 90 degree after 6-8wks oso.. for now still need to keep it straight 😂

slowly slowly... its a process for recovery. Haste will make the recovery slower.

if it's me.. I might just continue to throttle.. will not brake anymore.. usually at bends.. I use engine brakes.. (normal brakes is only used when coming to a stop or emergency brake)

when raining, cannot use brake = aquaplaning will occur.. so either throttle (to get rid of the water) or engine brake..

& put your box once ready.. bike too light could be one of the reason as well..

Yeah i started paying attention to what I was doing when i went down the SLE->BKE curve... i realized i usually go down that curve at about 80... oops. But i enter the curve at 4th gear at 80 and by the time i get to the lower curve i'm about 70. So i was using engine braking when i was going down. And yes i avoid the brakes when i'm turning at higher speed. and down gear midway if i ever need do. Maybe its something I learnt over the years without even realising.

During the slippage at the drain cover, i remember i maintained throttle and just kept my balance. Your bike tires would regain friction once its past that zone and that's when the next danger would come. Over compensation. So its always best to remain calm and just react as much as needed to regain balance. The worst near accident i ever kanna was a trailer suddenly dropped one of those block of wood from its back and it dropped right in front of me... I wasn't able to react and went right through it... The bike flew like prob 1 meter into the air and somehow i miraculously landed with a little wobble and continued... When i reach home to check... there was a huge dent to my rim... fortunately the tire didn't burst not the rim gave way... i was riding my CB400 last time. Had the rim repaired and the shop people were all saying how amazing it was the tyre didn't burst haha... Michelin Road 3 were amazing.

Lesson 2.01

Speaking of turns today, we learnt to make turns, using signals and of course, checking blindspots.
The lesson started out with following the instructor and learning to put your signals and then, check blind spot prior to making the left turn.

The left turn was done in 2nd gear and then next to enter into a filter lane (a little more tricky).
The idea is to look left and check the blind stop while ensure that the right road that is merged is safe.
Sounds easy, but remembering to check the left blind spot while going into the filter lane needs remembering.

Bike formation; now this is no easy thing, for those new to bikes.

When coming to a stop sign on a road, bikes would form left, then right, left and then right if the road is a single direction road, i.e arrow only points left (no straight and turning - can't remember the official name and anyone who reads this; do feel free to correct)

Next were made to go into formations and make left turns from traffic light and stop signs. When a couple of practice turns were done, we were told to stop and dismount to learn something new; the slope.

The lesson was the slope! Yes, slope number 8, made especially for 2B(ers) in BBDC.

So, the instructor gave pointers to hold the bike up the slope with the rear brake while applying the power and then moving off the slope.
The main challenge was again the formation.
Up the slope, there can be a maximum of four bikes to the "stop line" at the apex.

If two bikes are there, 2 other bikes have to stop at the "8" sign and wait before proceeding up.

if there are other bikes behind, they should wait on the major road before making their way up the slop... provided; there is no bike on the apex.

So, it was important to keep an eye on other learner vehicles in the circuit and of course, remembering the concept of ; communicating with your other riders (who to move off first) and at the same time being able to remember to signal, check the blind spot and get into formation.

This lesson was important as the instructor pointed out some mistakes made and need some inputs there..

... especially on the turns... when yours truly is on the right; tend to turn wide...

image.thumb.png.093ce2ad767c4a8f5caab8666ac24fc6.png

Asked the instructor who said "eyes on the centre and clutch control..." Not sure if any of you have this issue of going slightly wide (not a good thing)

This was something to take back and other things of course... even though this lesson was cleared.
Just to share the experience of this lesson.

It was confirmed that no guards were needed for 2.02, until 3.01.

While it was hot, it was still a good learning experience and the instructor was quite humorous even as he was serious on learning matters.

Haha my bike fixed le.. waiting for my leg to recover n be back on it.. family pretty against the idea thou.. im pretty scared too tbh.. no more calf muscle to cover if shit happens again.. gotta up all the protection gear le.. 😢 means its gonna be hot hot hot.. better than i scratch anywhere else thou..

Confident takes time.. honestly.. I've encountered 2 accidents..

1) in-between cars.. ever since, I seldom squeeze (been at least 5 years already)

2) friend riding bike, brake infront of me.. I fall with him 0 issues... Nowadays, I dun allow any bike infront or behind me (at least 5 years also)

We learn from mistakes and slowly built confidents again.

pretty comfortable.. but wearing indoors and actual riding are too different things.

need to try it out when to chance arises...

Just a short update.... :)

Looks good.. if at home no aircon, you can wear 5min, riding got wind.. confirm better..but traffic light = could be hot.. :)

Yes, it's our auto response after some years on the road.. I didn't even know what people is talk about "counter steering" until when I ride and really observed myself (felt weird to observe yourself) haha.. and yes.. we learn it by auto response.. after some mistakes of rear and front brakes "over makan", and lose friction. Our muscle remembered the maximum force we are allowed to brake = Muscle memories..

coming to a corner, our muscle remember what should be done.. we just corner as if we are "built" for it.. 😂

indeed.. we dun use brakes for cornering, only engine brake and just keep going down gear if its not enough to get pass that corner.. (only remembering it when I go Kent ridge.) 😂

I have a question. Don't understand this theory bit about "steering into a skid". What?

so if the bike is turning right and is skidding (is swinging out left), should I be trying to turn my wheels left, right or straighten it?

😂

does this even make sense? Maybe I'm imagining this wrong

Your motorcycle may begin to skid whilst cornering or changing direction.

  • If possible, try to keep your feet on the footrests. Placing a foot on the ground can upset the balance of your bike and make the vehicle more unstable.
  • Steer into the skid. If your motorcycle is skidding to the left, steer to the left and if it begins to skid to the right, steer to the right.

depending on where you wan to go... if you are turning right.. continue to turn right.. if you are going straight.. continue to stay straight..

It's ok, this Abang keep telling me that he stalled also.. I gentle shared with him that "that's why we are here, to learn" :) to put things into perspective... now I'm sure slope is no problem for you.. lessons are where we learn ... initially might be difficult but with time, will be much easier.

That lesson .... would sure stay for long and make you a much better rider! Yes, it was painful but mentally will make you much better... Look, put things into another perspective, "The Doctor", aka Rossi, has fallen many many times.. and he's a professional.. I'm sure you are a good rider to begin with. Pass on the first attempt of the practical. Not easy!

Ya.. no more problem.. i eventually found out tt if i keep stalling, its cos the engine haven warm up enough cos the slope is the 1st course at ssdc. Once its warmed up properly i never stall unless i release the clutch too fast haha.. last time the annoying part was u have to throttle, release clutch then check blindspot n move off.. it stalls the moment i check back cos maybe i was too slow or wat i dunno.. then eventually i cheated cos i realised no instructor is on the slope to penalise.. so i will check back then faster move off.. hahaha

once in a while i will still stall my own bike.. not on slope but during traffic light 😂

Haha ya lor.. But i pass with 18 points la.. heng heng 1 hahaha

The reporting time is 7am sia.. omg.. once i finish the circuit without any immediate fail i totally relax 80% liao sia.. cos road is not much of an issue already.. still stress la cos i scare when turning in n out of the gate i will drop my right foot down.. once u drop ur right foot down anywhere else other than at e-brake would be considered immediate failure already..

That means I will have to wake up at 5am... LOL... BBDC is really far from where I reside... I think the circuit is really stressful for riders who aren't familiar with the circuit.. need some spacial sense... I like the mini-circuit... really cute... hahahahaha

When u say mini circuit.... what do u mean? 😅 I suspect it's different from CDC - we have a small space to go round and round in but it's maybe 200m per round. Could do the figure of eight in that round but that's it.

im imagining like a mini s-course and everything when u say mini circuit. That would be soooo cute. 😂

CDC really small... We only have 1 figure 8 and 1 of everything..

SSDC have a few floors.. each floor at least 1 figure 8 and each course.. (e-brake/slope and etc) that's what I heard..

@Nakuru correct? LOL..

BBDC - might have a diff layout, or same as CDC?

The test format i think is the same for all driving center so ya i think u really need to wake up at 5 n fly there.. haha.. u will unlock the chance to do circuit revision after u complete lesson 4.. need to remember the specific test route also..

Haha ya.. every floor of SSDC have all courses.. level 5 got 2 set of figure 8 n s course.. lesson 1 & 2 will die die be on level 5 cos we only learn the slope in lesson 2.. lesson 3 will depend on the instructor's mood n weather whether we go to the 3rd floor.. lesson 4 n 5 will only be conducted at the 1st floor cos tts the test area so we need to remember the test route.. so level 3 is pretty much redundant.. slope wise if i not wrong level 3 dun have.. becos if u can make it down, u shld be able to make it back up level 5.. 1st floor only got 1 of everything cos the rest is for cars..

you mean it's like a multi storey building for learning? No wonder it's sheltered! 😱 so nice!!!!

CDC is really small and cramp 😂 we share with all the L drivers also.

Last saturday it was so crowded that even when we were supposed to go up to 4/5 gear, the car would stop in the lane and we also need to stop behind 😂 then there was one super P driver, s/he just went out on the filter/give way lane without slowing down 😂 Heng I'm a driver, I can predict that that might happen, slow down and let the car pass.
