yes its the new 400 series. Stepped down from the 500cc for the asian market. They are all parrelled twins. 40bhp only. Tuned for more linear power.

Parallel TWINS ? double confirm? what is going to happen to S4? Honda continue production or not? or are they going to replace with this?

Its a very sad thing what Yamaha and Honda are doing. in terms of performance, this 400 is nothing compared to super4. dont know why they are doing parallel twin? its like they are going back to old days. i still have my 1993 hond acb 250 nighthawk with its paralle twin engine and air cooled. its vibey but good FC. is it because its made in Thailand / India and thus price is low. if low how come it will probably be around 14- 16k. i my worries and 2 cent thinking

Kawasaki introduced Ninja 300, which is a parallel twin. Honda and Yamaha follow suit. In fact, i heard that 2014 R6 and R1 will be triples. 675cc and 1100cc respectively. CB400X will probably have more linear power than S4, but the top end is nothing compared to S4.

Perhaps it's just a trend that the manufacturers are going through at the moment. But i guess in Singapore, parallel twin may be more comfortable to ride. Inline4s have more top end, but where in Singapore can we utilise the top end legally?

RIDE.

2012 - 2015: Honda NSR150SP

Kawasaki has been building parallel twins from long long time ago...

egs. Ninja 250R, Ninja 500R, Ninja 650R ( ER-6f ), Ninja 400R...are all twins, the Ninja 300R is only an updated version of the 250R...they got the ZX for their inline 4s...nothing changed for them...

Yamaha was considering a triple but i read somewhere that they are sticking to inline 4s for their latest R1 ( prototype testing stage )... maybe they might use triples for their non sport bikes, maybe tourers maybe?

Honda "ask" ( lead a meeting ) the other Jap manufacturers ( gentlemen's agreement ) to ditch 2 strokes after 2001 ( slowly phased out )...ditch the idea of using FIs on 2 stroke bikes ( done on other vehicles ) to meet ever increasingly stringent emission laws...but instead use the FIs on 4 stroke bikes to meet them ( even older 4 strokes cannot meet today's super strict emission standards )...

now they decided to reduce from inline 4 250s ( seen a Honda from the early 90s ) to twin 250s ( late 90s ) to single 250 ( today ) & from inline-4 400cc to present twin 400cc...

well,...according to them, this is the "future"... no choice, folks...Honda is still big brother, with their market share...

to be fair, honda are probably doing it due to the ridiculous emission standards lately ( it will get even stricter if environmentalists have their way )...

Double comfirm plus chop ah. Dunno when are they going to kill 400cc inline4.. I guess once the cost of making it is too expensive, they will all have to switch to parellel twins. Just look at the nc700.. All about fuel economy and reducing pollution.

Since when are 400s about performance? It used to be but now with 600s, 1000s, 1200s being the norm, 400s are nothing but a shade of the past. Besides 10HP difference isn't gonna be of much use when real life road use will rarely require you to use all of its HP but 14-16K is ridiculous. Should be 10 or less.

Most people who ride their Super 4 rarely throttle the tits out of the bike to 200km/h anyway.

the trend was obvious from the intro of the new CBR250...from the inline-4 of the early 90s to parallel twins to the latest SINGLE!...

Honda don't even bother to outdo Kawa's twin 250? Kawa up 250 to twin 300, Honda instead reduce to Single 250...

now latest stunt is to down the S4 to twin 400cc, don't be surprised if a few years later they replace it with a Single 400cc?

folks, this is the "future" man...:(

arguing about the point of inline-4s is subjective, if use that line of argument, then ALL class 2 & 2A bikes are pointless liao, right?

what i do agree is the price is a rip-off, if i want a slower, more economical bike, i rather pay for a cheaper 2b bike...cheaper & lighter too! why pay so much more to get less? incredulous...

i think they have seriously lost the plot...

edit: they must as well give up 400cc, start building even more frugal 100cc kups again...:D

If one piston, might as well use DRZ, IMO parallel twins are just fine, got more pickup than an inline 4 plus more top end than a single. But single with sports fairing...ewww.

It goes to basic rule where there's demand, there will b supply.

Still we will have more choices in class 2a category. Better than just cb400, gsr400, rvf etc.

to paraphrase a famous phrase used for property ( Location, Location, Location...)

it is about their...

Price, Price, Price...:p

Whether all the 'extra' choices make sense or not depends on their's price...

just saw. a 2012 second hand honda integra parallel twin for sale at $19k in another site. why is evreybody selling their parallel twin honda so soon after buying. previously the nt700 s and x. is it because of performance or lack of it, fun factor, too expensive?? why why

Honda is trying to be the pioneer for fuel economy and greener engines. I think its just entered a new age and its designs still at the stage of infancy. I do hope that in a few years to come, they'll produce more power while maintaining fuel economy. Just like when the world started to kill off 2-strokes, 4 -strokes were reputed to be complicated and slow. You get the drift...

not really Limhg. why are owners of nt 700 selling their bikes after just a few months keeping them. of course , if i were to call these sellers , why to sell, they may not give the correct answer. i wouldnt be surprised if after buying the cb400x (ts started) , many buyers here will be selling it too. how about the ctx?? hmm, only time will tell

FYI, it was Honda the brought upon the fall of two stokes and the rise of 4 strokes.

Aiyo, your comprehension abit fail la brother. Lim explained that now honda is trying to spearhead the greener bikes market, that's why its latest designs are not there yet. Still market testing stage mah.
