Hi all Shadow bros,

Need some advice from you guys.

My FS plate Honda Shadow Slasher 400cc is down at workshop for major repairs.

Initial problem is "cannot start", so tow to shop.

Shop tells me the following need to be replaced.

1) Caburator (shop say new original part will cost $800 to $1k, shop advised me to

get my own 2nd hand part or try Honda Steed 2nd hand carburator)

2) Starter Clutch (shop quoted me about $200 for new part)

3) Fuel pump (shop quoted me about $200 for new part)

Do you guys know of any good lobang to get the above 2nd hand parts? Or anyone intend to sell his??

Does a Honda Steed caburator really fits a Shadow Slasher? I don't want to kana conned and go buy a Honda Steed caburator and later discover that it doesn't fit??

Advice any, guys?

Low on cash, need to save on repairs!

PM me, please!!

Thanks

for a start.

Which shop did you bring your bike to?

Best if you bring to Rosli or Ah Chong let them check.

(good and reliable)

Another tow will definately cost you less than what you have mentioned above.

Hi bro dreamwalk,

My bike is now at LAB workshop at Kallang Ave. The mechanic is named Ah Huat.

Your contact, Rosli or Ah Chong is from which shop?

Mind giving me the shop name, address & tel no.?

Thanks

wah! Like that might as well go buy a new bike man. Rosli's place is at Eunos Industrial there. I can't member of the exact address. Do a search in Cruiser forum or can some one else post?

Don't worry, my skipper died on me too. Can't start. I feel like just chucking it off into the river.

oops post on wrong page. paiseh.

Anyways, i do believe that the shadow is a sturdy and reliable bike.

So many things should not brake down at the same time.

Fyi, ah huat tried to ask me change stearing cone when only my fork alignment was out.....

i went home diy adjust back. problem solved.

therefore, take their words with a pinch of salt, do go get a 2nd opinion.

If the dignosis is same den you lan lan go repair lor.

Dear bros,

1. My Shadow bike is repaired by Rosli after I towed it there. Damage:$450/=.

2. To my dismay, Rosli told me that Ah Huat from LAB has drilled some holes in my caburator and spoiled it. I am forced to change some vital parts, including choke head, pilot jet. That's why its so ex. My Starter Clutch & Fuel Pump are not spoilt as claimed by Ah Huat.

3. Ah Huat obviously do not know how to repair and anyhow trial and error with my bike. Left my bike with him for 2 months and nothing came out. Always he will say he got no time to do my bike and my bike is very "Jia Lat". He charged me $100 some more for so called "servicing my carburator".

4. My advice to you bros is. Never send your bike to LAB workshop for engine related faults. For accessories and "cheong parts", yes LAB is cheap.

5. Hope my lesson learnt is of learning value to you guys.

Bro I am happy that you get your way here to find solution for your slasher in this forum.

Of course happy for you too you have solved your bike problem, happy ridding !!!

I believe you are happy overall since your bike has been repair. But I don’t think is fair for you to quote other workshop services in this forum, correct me if I am wrong here, anyone.

Best of all don't use words whether is true or not from mech and go again your anger with another mech unless you are going to start war between them.

Just an advise no offence.

Hi Bro Scorpion69,

1. Thanks for your advice.

2. I post for the benefit of bros in this forum. To be fair to Rosli, he made no bad

comment about LAB. I myself felt that I "kana conned" by Ah Huat. In order not to

let other bros here get the same "conned job", that's why I posted.

3. I think it's was mentioned at other threads that some LAB mechanics really sucks.

But I still go LAB get accessories, tyres, other stuff, which is really cheap.

4. I hope someone who reads this will go tell Ah Boy about it. At least he knows he

should seriously consider getting some other mechanics who are more pro.

5. No offence on my reply though. Sincerely thanks for your advice.

Ah Huat is the Chief Mechanic. Tall, Medium size Chinese with moustache. About 40 yrs old.

The muscular mechanic is good. Friendly and looks like he is better with his repairs/servicing works.
