Tyre pressure should be no problem as I regularly monitor and pump as recommended.. The feeling is like the bike is sliding thru the corners.. Couldnt be crosswind ryte?

Once you have set proper sag for your bike, try this...drifting outwards during corners, increasing your rebound damping by 2 clicks first and test ride. Note: if too much rebounding damping you will have difficulty picking up the bike coming out of corners. Or, if you can afford it, decrease your compression damping by 2 clicks and test ride.Note: if there's too little compressing damping, you can have excessive nose dive when braking or you feel like you're tilting too fast into corners like you're falling. Hope this helps... this is just a rough guide based on my amateur experience.Enjoy!

I have a similar feeling... like the tyres lack grip and start to slide wide even on dry roads. I don't have the confidence to lean the bike at all. Dunno if it's the tyres or my suspension... but since the latter is due for a change before end of year, I guess my question should soon be answered. Assuming I can get it set up properly of course.

Speaking of tyres... what is the longest time it is 'safe' to keep a set of tyres on the bike? My tyres are coming to almost 2 years old but my mileage is so pathetic that I haven't even crossed 13k km :faint: I'm still riding regularly, so it's not standing still... but it's usually just short distances. Any views on this?

bro, the possibilities of your rubbers hardon is high... hehehe...

back to story, rubbers ossifies over time, ur tires harden may lead to losing of grip and may slip, affecting ur handling at times... if ur tires starts to show cracks, it means the rubber compound had deteriorates and the quality of it will not be the same as fresh from the oven already... :)

hmm... glanced thr the last page and saw ur discussing abt rear shock.

if we rebuild the stock shock with ohlins spring, how would it perform compared against the real thing and stock 1?

rebuild can build according to the rider weight??

some people said stock shocks can be rebuilt, some says cannot... i can't answer this, never experienced it before...

but, if you can rebuild your stock shock with ohlins spring, of cus, pls use the correct spring rate for your weight... ur weight includes urself, ur bor & ur sh!ty stuffs in ur box...

rebuild-able, but IMO not worth the $$$.

the stock adjustments settings offer you adjustment for skinny riders to oversized riders.

an aftermarket shock offers you more detail adjustments within your weight range.

not forgetting that there's resale value for aftermarket shock.

and any springs that is of the correct spring rate is good, no need definitely to be ohlins. ;)

Stock 1 can adjust but will get soft mah. And aftermarket cost at least 4 digits most of the time? I think rebuilding only in the range of 200-300 right?

Anyway just asking only. I'll be giving my front the priorty over the rear anyway. :):)

a tire can b used ard 12 mths to ard 18 mths. some stretched to 24 mths n more bcos the thread is still as good as new. but its the compound that we r more concerned. a new tire shelf life shd not b over 5 years. a used tired shd not b over used as the expansion n contraction of the tire be it when riding, parked when rain n shine, the compound deteriorates n harden. of cos still can use but it will not perform as good as a new tire. for me, after 12 mths, i will start to look for new tires.

stock shock cannot b rebuilt. even changing of spring is not possible as the diameter of those aftermarket springs is slightly bigger than the stock. thats the perception from a naked eye. :D so can have error for that. replacement to aftermarket shock will b recommended if u feel the rear is too soft.

if i were you, i would replace the right signal and mirror ONLY if they are no longer functioning. the stock balancers are good, but if you really need to, change to motovation ones. exhaust plate, no need lah. but your money, your choice.

otherwise can go to your regular bikeshop, they probably get cheaper from their dealers, mark up a little but you still save some money, or at least save time.

There are definitely no cracks, I inspect my tyres from time to time. But of course it could still have hardened due to the heating and cooling cycles.

Stock rear shock is "supposedly" not rebuildable/serviceable... but some shops can do it, based on their own expertise. Sporting Motors quoted me $250 to rebuild my Gen1 shock, which would include the oil seal, o-ring and pumping of gas. Changing spring to custom is another $150.

I'm not sure about Gen2, but the Gen1 shock already has adjustments for preload, compression & rebound. If you get the right spring for your weight, it will get you a significant improvement for relatively low cost. To compare, aftermarket shocks (for Gen1) cost anything from $1250 to $1800 depending on the features you're looking for.

I suggest you give Sporting a call and speak with Gabriel (say 'Mike with the white Fazer' asked you to get in touch). Ask him about your options, he's quite patient and helpful.
