Accident at jalan bahar exit

hi guys..

im a student studying in ntu. went out last night and came back that time i was taking jalan bahar exit then there was this taxi in front of me...i thought he was also slowing down because its a fliter lane out of the highway then i also start to slow down

then when i was nearer i realise his taxi was completely stopped in the middle of the lane so i started to brake hard...then when it was quite near i saw his reverse lights on then i tried to steer right to avoid but my front tyres skidded and i lost control then fell

i got up a while then another bike came along with 2 malay fellas...they were nice..then they stopped by to help...the taxi drive came out to help me shift my bike to the side..then tell his passenger to take a cab back herself..then i ask the 2 malay fellas they say its his fault.. then they tried talking to the driver...he keep shutting them off say he got 18 rs of driving experience

then keep saying not his fault...shutting them off...then they were nice enough to give their number say willing to be witness

after which i went to hospital and the IO did not come down on the spot to take statements or anything..and asked me go down to ubi tp when i called him the next day...is it normal ?

Put it simple huh No Contact with the taxi ur fault already..... prepare 6 points demerit and fine of 200 dollars... if so got langgar him also ur fault... that time i accident also like that go hospital all that the next day tp call ask me go down see the i.o...

Next time if accident try not to take ambulance.....skidded or wad try not to take... if pple call ambulance come u have the right not to go into the ambulance.. if ambulance come confirm tp case.... then die2 some1 will kana fine and demerit point... u can go to idac.... see wad they say.... for claiming of insuarance ...

hmm...but the thing is i tried to avoid him already...cause he also shouldnt have stopped at the exit there right?

moreover he was trying to reverse.

then if i claim the damages from insurance company is there a minimum term of contract for my insurance ?

singapore law is if u skidded and fall consider u unable to control your vehicle and causing an accident... Penalty 6 demerit and fine 200... All the best bro... Just go down to idac... tell ur story and they will take pic of ur bike and they will send some1 to represent u and claim from the other party... total cost 0 dollars but when wanna renew insuarance... abit expensive...

okay..so that means when i repair bike claiming damages from the insruance company and i sell away the bike...

is it possible? cause i already claim for the damages from the insruance company liao..

Describe wat happened. Rem all facts should point towards the fault of driver ... sudden brake... etc ... since u got witness.....

In order to steer clear from him prevent accident. U say u even horned but the driver carried on... and to a point that u skid.

 

to further substantiate ur fact. Go to ur MP to help u write this letter. That is what MPs are for ... help us commoners/consumers/voters to settle our injustice...

Claiming insuarance is no 1 day thingy... my frend accident major 1 huh it took him 2 years still havent get the money but he is claiming for 250k ... then another frend accident minor 1 around 1 year then he get the money and he get only 2k.. wait for a year to get 2 k...

Seems like a tough case ah.... Like what others say, no contact with the taxi, very hard to put all the blame on him.

nobody should stop in the middle of the highway for watever reason. i'd say at most 50-50. he kena u also kena. y? coz u lose control also. and his fault to stop at the highway.

from your post. i looks like it is a filter lane, and the taxi is going out of the filter however he stop. wish to ask, did he before the double dotted line?

if yes, you are in the wrong. else after he shld speed up and maintain at the road limit speed. BUT if he were to stop and try to reverse back. he is at fault. reason that now he is the one who bang into you and not u bang into him. you may wan to rephase most of your post as there are quite a few grey area. eg what do you mean by middle of the lane. i guess to most is to drive and keep to the middle/centre of the lane.

 

by the way, no of year of experience does not equal to them being the expert. don't be dishearted. however being honest would great help in your case.

hmm actually i also dont know....

cause i tried to siam already and i was stunned cause i see the reverse lights.....

its not exactly a filter lane..its like normal highway exit...

and the jalan bahar exit is upslode... and he stop quite near the exit and some more in the middle of the lane... and i was stunned cause i saw the reverse lights..

wat u shld do is to report idac no matter wat..

and den if u wan to claim tat taxi driver, go to a workshop that does claims.. xtreme or gopa do gd claims..

den they would proceed to claim for u..

state ur witnesses in the report..

and den leave it to the police to investigate the case, even if u're fined or given demerit pts, can still proceed to claim and contest on liability..

but there are cases where both parties not fined or points deducted too..

Bro.. you need to know a few things first... Do you know why he stopped? Do you know why he reversed? is it because he went into the wrong exit? Did he stop abruptly?

 

Yes, you did not hit him and you fell on your own. And Yes, it is due to his actions you had to siam and fell. Furthermore, it is an expressway, stopping for no apparent reason is a no-no too.

 

The TP IO did not take your statement immediately is because you are not seriously injured and maybe they are not investigating also. There are some points before TP investigate into the case.

 

BTW, I'd suggest you inform your insurance company. Go IDAC and proceed with the damage assessment. If you have the drivers num, call him up to negotiate price. If all fails, try to claim his insurance and call his company to complain.

 

18 years of driving experience DOES NOT mean he can never do mistakes. Even driving instructors does mistakes... we are human.

actually i feel that he went into the wrong exit because he got a passenger with him..and he's quite near to the start of the exit also...

but he denied it...he said a sports car squeezed in with him into the lane thats why he slowed down... but im pretty sure he's stationary when i was near and i already started to brake hard...and when i was even nearer i saw reverse lights and tried to siam but my tyres skidded and i lost control..

how many days of bar time do i have to inform the insurance company ?
