haha registering myself first..getting FLHRCI end of this month!!!

Congrats! After only a few days of riding my bike, I'm thinking of a bigger beast already! I've to endure for another 10 years before I can upgrade to a Road King.

rumble as in what kinda rumble? does the bike start to 'gallop' or it's just a sound? actually i change gears very quickly.. if i don't wanna make a whole lot of noise, i'm up to 5th at abt 50kmh. if i'm making myself heard then at 50kmh i'll still be in 2nd gear hahah  (which is usually the case) so i think your changing of gears at that speed is ok.. the rumble might be the engine wanting to go faster! lol!

Rumble as in "bom bom bom bom.....". For the bikes that I rode before, that means engine speed too low for the gear. But this Harley rumble don't have the same weakness. Sounds good though, no wonder there is a warning for excessive lugging. That sound is mesmerizing.

Went to check the internet for some speed vs rpm thing and I think I wouldn't exceed the 4k rpm breakin limit by dragging it according to how I feel. Better to drag than to lug, I guess.

oh... i think i know what u mean... is it the exhaust note or the engine? might be the exhaust leh... as in the sound from the pipes.. not the engine. u can actually hear it on other v-twins as well but not that clearly as the pipes are different.

the rumble dosen't have the same weakness because of the torque la... low end and mid range torque is :thumb: .

It's your damn bike, wash it yourself! You rinse your own mouth after you eat, don't you?

Damm Embarrass of myself...... didnt noe a ting of wat u guys r refering to....Rumbling...Lugging....Dragging... :weep:

don't be embarassed. You're already doing it without knowing. As one instructor in Australia told me during a training course

"Did you know that you were counter-steering? You didn't know it, right?"

Same thing.

Don't worry, I don't know what is lugging until I read the manual. Probably not so crucial for other bikes. Other terms might not be technically correct!

Lugging: High gear but using low engine speed. Will spoil the engine.

Dragging: Low gear but high engine speed. Each gear is drag to the highest speed for that gear. Do this when you want to beat the sportbike beside you at the traffic light. Will spoil engine that is yet to break-in if rpm is above 4k (first 80km) or 5k (first 800km)

Rumbling: Sound of my tummy when I'm hungry, or as Shiraz says, the "exhaust note" from a Harley. Hmmm I like this term "exhaust note". Sounds much more stylish.

I don't mind if you try mine for a few minutes. Be warned. Your Z1000 won't feel the same anymore

Thanks for your invitation but I am not ready to ride your baby Fatboy, wait I too tempting to getting one, so don't tempt me. :lovestruck:

But for sure your Fatboy is much more comfortable to my Z1000 in terms of sitting posture. :thumb:

Dei...Chapati is Chapati and Ducati is DUCATI...heh. Here's a hint my pipe(singular) can fit a lontong easily. And my name spells like this "i _ _ _ ".

If you still haven't figured it out....you can ask your girlfriend...she keeps asking for me.....Joke Dude...hahahaha.

Collected my bike last week. Spent the weekend polishing and coating the paintwork, and protecting the metal parts. Haven't done such detailing on bikes for a long time.

The clutch is hard, the engine is noisy, the transmission is clunky, the suspension is bone-jarring, and the vibration at idle is quite severe. But I FEEL ALIVE!

Leaves me smiling everytime I ride it. It is an experience that I cannot describe properly. The bike is also very nimble and the handling is quite light. The brakes, although not Brembo qualty, is surprisingly adequate. It is also the first time in many years that I can put down my feet flat on the ground, had been tip-toeing for the past 6 years.

Maybe it is the initial novelty, but I like this ride quite a lot. My only complain is that my accessories are not here yet, so no rigid saddle bags to lock my jacket and rain coat, so quite inconvenient for now.

your ride is the 1200Low which is new for '07 rite? looks different compared to the rest in the sportster range.the black is really slick-looking.i sat on one at the dealership.i find the seat lacking in cushion :p Guess it's neccessary to make the bike really low. U mentioned that vibration at idle is 'severe'.I thot new sportsters r rubber mounted? Does the vibes go away when u ride? Ya vibration is a trademark of HDs.

How many years does it take for a Softail to go below $20 000 ? Most of the Heritages and Fatboys on sale here are above $21K

Mine's still the old 150 sized tyres. Handling wise still ok. No complains yet.
