Harley Riders gather

Just replaced my 99 close-circuit competitive Harley slip-ons with a imported stock FLH mufflers.

Man, it sounds (if any).... like one of those brand new sewing machine Harleys.

Gone is the rumble.... gone is the soul jolting galloping when idle.

An EVO engine.... has lost it's signature sound.

My harley's arrival will never be announced let alone if it did pass by.

There's NO ART in FART!

The akra for sportster.. Is it the full system or just slip on?.. I mean, the one that is LTA APPROVED... Starting to get poisoned by u know who.. :p

Posted (edited)

It's slip on. With seal. So with the seal intact u wun have any problems with inspection n the 'kings' of the roads. The seal is there so u can't decat. and anyway...there's nothing in ur headers..so why bother with a complete set?

Saw somewhere ppl wrote that the akra for sportster is only a bit bit louder than stock and not worth paying almost sgd2500 for it. Wonder if it's really soft muffler with no grunt.

truth is, no one in Singapore has fixed Akras on their Sportsters yet...all heard on Youtube and never heard a live one, how would they know that it's only a little bit louder then stock? I don't know man, I can only assume.

all I know is, people keep telling me the Akras for the touring models were not worth it and that it will also have 'no sound'. I heard on Youtube it sure sounded a little louder. Fact is, after I fixed it, it is NOTICEABLY louder then stock, and I'm pretty satisfied with the sound.

vrods ride different from our air cooled vtwins. Riding posture is quite aggressive... Really stretched out hands n legs from Wat I always see. But I suppose that can b adjusted with some accessories...being liquid cooled... I would also suppose the engine wil b a lot more silent due to the insulation from all that coolant... Considering that there is currently no legal aftermarket exhaust n if u don't wanna outlaw... It's gonna be pretty silent. Servicing wise not that easy to do it yourself because of the way certain parts are placed. It's kinda like u gotta take out 10 things just to remove one thing kind of bike. Performance I can't say for sure but it does look fast...

Based on reviews, Night Rod's faster than my bike but abit too high revving for a cruiser..akin to a sports bike engine in a cruiser chassis..looks fiercE though!

Thanks for the comment. I wonder if riding is that aggressive, will it be comfortable for long journey. I don't mind the bike is silent, but hopefully the authority can approve more aftermarket exhaust. I stay at HDB, parking under no shelter + security worries me.

That's why attracted to it. Look damn fierce. But I also got take into consideration that using it to go to work and home is under utilization. Currently, using vstrom 650 to go to work and home is just nice.

How about the vibration during idling and on the move? Heard that it is enuff to make your hand numb, or is this urban legend?

Tats a time in the past... With the new rubber mounted engine :)

Another consideration will be storage space... No box on the Rod please... Don't spoil the look :p
