my younger brother is more & more interested in Harley-Davidson~! Not my fault~ but he keep asking me about the details concern about Harley ~ of course not in front of our dad :help:

So I just went to put my brother as sub-rider at insurance agency just now. Next time you see somebody riding my bike, that would be my brother :p

Does your brother look like you? Either way, I'll wave

Hi does any forummer here know of anyone thinking of selling their Dyna? My dad is considering a used Harley and he is unsure of what kind of price to expect for one.

He is looking at the FLSTF Fatboy and the Dyna models. Appreciate a PM, thanks!

Cheers...

Need Help - took out the screw at the back of our HD mirror;

now can't put it back, believe the nut (or whatever it bites on) is mis-aline.

other than smashing the mirror to replace the nut, any ideas ????

You can try to re-tap the screw thread, but it would be tricky because the original pilot hole is already misaligned. It is possible though, if you are careful enough.

Got it fixed, by slowly ... very slowly fishing the nut with a needle back to alignment. Thanks for inputs ...

Hi Guys,

Just a few questions and hope you guys can share your knowledge or opinion.

btw, I don't ride a harley, but has some queries and being a potential owner in time to come hopefully.

Are the a lot of difference in performance and maintenance between earlier carb models vs new age EFI ones?

Can those older non-rubber mounted engines be converted to "rubber mount"? pardon me as i am guessing its just adding rubber monutings, not technical person here.

thanks..

I've owned both Carb and EFI harleys.

In terms of performance there is a lot more you can do easily and a lot more local support for the carb models. For EFI models you can buy plug in modules etc to enhance performance.

If you plan to do many long rides out of Singapore and you have problems on the way it is more likely that if you have a carb model someone will be able to get you on your way without too much trouble. There are many motorcycle mechanics between here and China that understand how a carb works. You wont find many that will be willing to touch your EFI and certainly not many with any diagnistics type equipment.

In Singapore when it is working fine I prefer the EFI - no choke, no starting problems, less warmup time etc etc. A lot less hassles when it is working fine. Also I don't do my own mechanical work so I leave all the work to those that supposedly know what thee doing.

My Harley carb tended to Burp and Fart and every now and again for no reason tended to fart just when I needed the power (like taking off from lights after idling) most of this was fixed with jet changes, fine tuning and getting to know the bike real well - this is part of what owning a Harley is about anyway. If your an enthusiast or are likely to do your own mechanical work or modifications I would go for a carb model.

Hope this helps - There will probably be other riders with completely different opinions to me. Be interested to hear what other riders have to say though.

Cheers

Hi Hagar, thanks for your feedback. I understand what you mean.

but how about perfomance of the bike, not much difference i suppose? HD upgraded to EFI more like a technology advancement thingy i guess....

Same Same ... But different ... :D

Yeah. My first Harley was an 04 1200C Sporty with a few mods - I loved that bike after I got the carby sorted out and had Yee do up my suspension.

Now I ride an 01 FLSTCI - I Love this bike also. Although spends more time in the shop than my Sporty did.

Both different both great rides both Harleys. - It all started from a second hand 400cc Steed I bought in 2001 (also a great ride). My wife is now riding one of these while waiting for for her class 2 and then Low Rider.

Cheers
