I wonder if your friend is the one who bought it from me...

I see he did a good job on the rear rim... so shiny!!!

Serious?? I believe he bought it from an old man, quite old man haha who stayed at eunos. Dont think you're the one? He customed the whole bike very nicely, chromed everypart, modified exhaust, handlebars, paint work all. Damn nice bike !

anyway it was nice to see the bike still running well and nicely done up. I have nice memories with this bike...

guys... interested in Monster400... but can tell me is the maintain this bike hard? like the service how? do it give many problem and where to service this bike is better...

wow, so many question. how to ans.a) bike maintain is about the same.if u talk about cost, its cost more but worth it. b)servicing take 1 0r 2 days, depend on machanics. c)problem depend on your luck, so far , nobody complain. d) no much choice, only kc & ducati s'pore are familiar at it.

sorry i couldnt make it guys, would have loved to be there....will be at thailand for a holiday this weekend so wont be avail this sunday either unfortunately

I also did a mini road trip with a buddy riding a fazer 600 to genting last friday and came back early saturday morning. very fun but i don't think i could tahan that again....900km in 24 hours travelling at 140-150km/h with ZERO wind protection is REALLY taxing man....the ducati windscreen is a joke when it comes to wind protection its like trying to stop the rain falling on you with a tissue paper LOL

Hope to see you guys at the next meetup

For the guy asking questions on monster maintainence, my opinion is:

Basically if you look after the bike, it will look after you. There are some small things which should be changed and looked after religiously. Things like timing belt change (about 7000-10000km?), valve clearance (once a year?), and of course the oil change every 5000km and oil filter after every 2 oil changes. Small things like spark plug changes every once in a long while and carb tuning etc also apply, just like any other bike.

If you stick to the recommended intervals, and get your bike service by the right people, people who know what you're doing, the bike is basically bulletproof. The ducati 2v air cooled lumps are tough as nails and almost impossible to kill. Treat it well and it will last forever. Just MHO

A full service done at the right place doing all the items listed above shouldnt cost more than 500 bucks. It will take a day or 2 to do it all. After that its just oil changes until the next 'big service' comes again.

guys... interested in Monster400... but can tell me is the maintain this bike hard? like the service how? do it give many problem and where to service this bike is better...

Bro.....

I think its a very subjective question about whether the maintenance is hard or difficult. Think about it.

I know of women who know nuts about cars, but their cars never ever gets neglected and almost always are at it's peak. Why? It's simple, they religiously follow the maintenance schedule. They know that they know nuts about the cars, but they also know that their mechanics are the ones who know their cars......so let the experts do what they are paid to do.

Having said that, maintaining a M400 (imho) is no different from any other bikes out there in the market, except you NEED to give her TLC, and remember some simple things, (like never throttle when switching on, never off the bike using the cut-off switch, etc etc etc) Basically, if the previous owner (and so should you when you do own the M400) maintain a service record of the bike, then at one glance you know when to do what and etc. B4 I bought my monster, I read this thread from page 1 to current page. Within these pages, I swear there are at least 5 instances of experts spelling out the basic maintenance schedule for the Monsters.

Next thing is almost everyone who doesnt ride a monster says its servicing is expensive. To these people, I say shuddup until you own one. If you own one and your servicing is ex, I wanna know why you never give her TLC.

Then, there are people who come up with this absolutely ridiculous story about the FC being high, parts difficult to get and expensive and etc. Again, unless you have specifically tried, and failed miserably, I cannot swallow this, as those guys who come to the KTM can testify, that about 60% of my bike is replaced with new or almost new parts for an amount which is a fraction of the cost of my bike, and I got my 8 year old bike cheap.

Does my monster give me problems? No, she gives me endless, limitless pleasure. All these for the cheap cost of TLC & petrol. However, find me a bike from brand X which doesn't give problems!!!! My point here is not about the make, but about the actual physical bike. To this, please please please choose your M400 carefully.

The thing is that MOST people see the M400 as a transition bike, b4 they go on to the usual suspects. Because of this, many don't look after it, (although we know of people who look after it soooo caringly, & then move on to other bikes......)So, it's not that the monsters give problems, its the question of the state of the physical bike when you bought it.

I'm guessing that you are asking this question, as your going to way the pros and cons of acquiring an eye-talian beauty. Your neighbour's sister-in-law's cat knows of a cousin whose ex-boyfriend teacher ever rode an eye-talian and said that its difficult & expensive and etc etc etc.

To that, I say, don't believe them, don't believe me. Open your eyes, open your ears, and find it out for yourself. (hint hint; come down for the next KTM meetup on Sunday @ 8pm I promise you wont feel left out even wo a monster YET; I can't speak for the rest, but if my bike is there, I'd let you ride her to get the feel.........) Ask many other M400 riders.......not other makes.

My last piece of 2 cents here.

If you are going to buy the M400 coz it's a DUCATI, then join the rest of the world. If you are thinking of getting the M400 coz she's about the most fun bike ever to ride (in it's class ah!!! we compare apple to apple ok!), then I'd like to have kopi with you sometime.......

:offtopic:

:btw:

I'm going to engrave this on a licence plate holder (when I make a new plate lah)......Don't copy ah!!!!

get an eDUCATIon

if u getting a bike thru a private seller. the onli faicilities to get a "reloan"(as they call it) is through hitachi credit. u can try Asphoon, e last time i heard they do reloans as well. not much choices here really. GE money u can loan as well,(they do general loans) but if i not wrong their interest rates r a little on e high side.

I called H1tach1.....The "management" will only finance bikes above 1000cc.....

Ok lah..... I go get finance for $1 for some stupid 1000cc bike but no one wants to finance a very expensive 750cc bike........I thought that corporate world was the only place where you lose your brains as you go up the corporate ladder........*sigh* finance companies "management" isn't spared as well.....

I called Asph00n.................This one lagi best. some ah lian pick up the phone.....

Ah LIan : AH!!!!

zer0kewl : Good Afternoon is this AS Phoon?

AL : ah!!!!

0K : DO you do reloans and (interupted b4 I could continue!)

AL : Sorry ah..We dont do reloans

Phone slammed!

I mean WTF!!!!!!!!It's ok lah, think they dont want to earn my money.......I give it to ah long lah
