Hi. I just collected my new CBR 150 R from the bike shop this afternoon. I understand that under hire-purchase (installment plan with the shop), I don't get my COE and spare keys until I settle all my payment. I've got a couple of questions.

1) Is it compulsory to display the bike's road tax when on the road?

2) Is there such a thing as the shop holding on to the bike's road tax slip (the round piece of paper) while the bike is under hire purchase?

Thanks.

I also can't believe that. Was trying to find info in onemoroting but nothing there. Actually if they don't need us to diaplay road tax disc, whay do they give us a disc? They can just give us a piece of paper like insurance. Not logical.

u need to display road tax disc on your vehicle to show proof tat u have pay tax.

Qn 14: Can I drive my vehicle without displaying a valid road tax disc?

The registered owner is required to display a valid road tax disc on the windscreen of the vehicle no later than 14 days (excluding any day which is a Sunday or public holiday) after the registration of the vehicle or after the expiry of the previous licence/road tax, whichever is applicable.

Qn 18: I have taken delivery of my new vehicle. However, it does not have a road tax disc and my dealer has informed that LTA will be sending me one soon. In the meantime, can I drive my new vehicle without displaying a valid road tax disc?

Once a vehicle is registered, it can be driven without a road tax disc for up to 14 days (excluding any day which is a Sunday or public holiday) from the registration date.

If you do not receive the disc after the 7-day period, please call our Customer Services Hotline at tel: 1800-CALL LTA (1800-225 5582) for a duplicate copy to be sent to you. Alternatively, you may visit our office at 10 Sin Ming Drive during our operating hours to obtain a duplicate disc.

It is a requirement for bikes to display road tax disc. Summon action can be taken for failing to do so. However, it all depends on the TP, police officer or ROV who stop you. If they give you face, they will only give you a verbal warning. I myself place my road tax disc in my seat compartment...

Woah.... Maybe can try and tell the TP/ROV that...

Anyway, alot of bikes have windscreen (aka windshield) too... So only those without can argue this way...

My thinking too.

No need to officially display tax disc on bike. Because they TP/police can easily radio in or use their mobile PC to check your records. I am going to remove the disc off my bike.

Thanks for all the discussions.
