My dog is a mini-silky terrier...

Hmm, he's still barking even after shaking the can after 5 minutes.. And I don't think it's a good solution when he barks at night... Letting him out all day I think isn't a very good idea, since if he expects to be let out everyday, then he'll be noisy when guests are around.

Other than that, he's a pretty good boy, he learnt to sit by himself (well not really, we refuse to give him his meals when he doesn't quieten down so he has learnt that sit = rewarded in some way)

I want to be a rider!

Hope to get 'free' 2b in NS!

CBR125R, NSR125, NSR150SP YamahaSparkz135.. Maybe even Phantom TA200?WOOOOOO!

*drools*

aim to get 2b by year end and bike by may08!

hmmz.. isnt silky suppose to be more barkish and bitish?

the shake can thing cant work ah?

anyway, how abt trying to discipline abit from now on?

since he likes to be out everyday, then when he start bark, lock him in a small area like kitchen and stare hard at him? till he realise what he done wrong and let him out?

my maltese also bark but oni when someone open/knock the front door, so i use a deep voice "NO" and stare hard at him and grab his head and shake "NO"(they say dog oni recognise the tone, so DON use high pitch for NO)

else if u wan a more simple but expensive way,i rem seeing a device from US tat when a dog barks, that device will produce a frequency that oni dog can hear, then when it hears, its kinda pain to their ears so they will stop.

in some way, he stop.

i think our furkids can sense facial expression too :p

Like my boy when he saw my finger point to him and eyebrows narrowed. he knew he did something that pissed me off and lowered his ears, tail and sit down lowering his head :cheeky:

My mom bought that for my dog. In the end, he got over it, stopping only for that duration when the device emitted a high-pitched ultrasound, then continuing his noisy barking when we released the button.

In the end, we set that aside and over the years, used what's called "Mutual understanding" between human-and-dog. Just like your deep-voiced "No" method.

One word of advice for owners of rowdy dogs: Do not scream at your dog (to stop him from barking). Dogs take this as a form of encouragement to continue barking. They think that you're joining them in this kind of defence-tactic as well.

Humor Of The Day

My Dog named Sex...

Everybody I know who has a dog usually calls him "Rover" or "Spot".

I call mine Sex.

Now, Sex has been very embarrassing to me.

When I went to the City Hall to renew the dog's license, I told the clerk that I would like a license for Sex.

He said, "I would like to have one too!"

Then I said, "But she is a dog!"

He said he didn't care what she looked like.

I said, "You don't understand.

...

I have had Sex since I was nine years old."

He replied, "You must have been quite a strong boy."

When I decided to get married, I told the minister that I would like to have Sex at the wedding. He told me to wait until after the wedding was over.

I said, "But Sex has played a big part in my life and my whole world revolves around Sex."

He said he didn't want to hear about my personal life and would not marry us in his church.

I told him everyone would enjoy having Sex at the wedding.

The next day we were married at the Justice of the Peace.

My family was barred from the church from then on.

When my wife and I went on our honeymoon, I took the dog with me.

When we checked into the motel, I told the clerk that I wanted a room for me and my wife and a special room for Sex.

He said that every room in the motel is a place for sex.

I said, "You don't understand.

...

Sex keeps me awake at night."

The clerk said, "Me too!"

One day I entered Sex in a contest.

But before the competition began, the dog ran away.

Another contestant asked me why I was just looking around.

I told him that I was going to have Sex in the contest.

He said that I should have sold my own tickets.

"You don't understand," I said, "I hoped to have Sex on TV."

He called me a show off.

When my wife and I separated, we went to court to fight for custody of the dog.

I said, "Your Honor, I had Sex before I was married but Sex left me after I was married."

The Judge said, "Me too!"

Last night Sex ran off again.

I spent hours looking all over for her.

A cop came over and asked me what I was doing in the alley at 4 o'clock in the morning.

I said, "I'm looking for Sex."

-- My case comes up next Thursday.

Well now I've been thrown in jail, been divorced and had more damn troubles with that dog than I ever foresaw. Why just the other day when I went for my first session with the psychiatrist, she asked me, "What seems to be the trouble?"

I replied, "Sex has been my best friend all my life but now it has left me for ever.

I couldn't live any longer so lonely."

and the doctor said, "Look mister, you should understand that sex isn't a man's best friend so get yourself a dog."

Hiz,

Any one knows how to toilet train a Shih Tzu?

My gf pampered her too much that whenever her Shih Tzu pee and poo at her house, she never disciplined her.
