Fastest way ....

 

Exit at Merlimau, the one before Ayer Keroh. Just follow the exit road till you reach a t-junction, then make a right towards Merlimau. When you reach Merlimau, make a right again towards Malacca town. You will reach Umbai, aka Pengkalan Pernu in no time ..

 

Do not take these road at night if you are going for the first time. Caution, domisticated animals roam freely ... even at night.

The last time i heard, the shophouses there was up in the smoke...maybe Undertker can verify on tht? Alternative is Alai..i always go Alai actually...

yeah agree with u since its easier to get there rather than for me to explain the way thru malacca town.

Alai and umbai serve basically the same dishes, but the last 2 times i went there with some bikers frens, feel dat its a little overpriced compared to umbai. dats y i personally prefer umbai.

 

ya heard about the fire in alai, but now still hear of ppl going there to eat so i guess its not a problem.

well pls be notified of the weather update in malacca cos its been raining like mad since last week. my advise is to go there by car until the raining season ends.

And i find umbai overpriced compared to hulu Alai.....we areally do have diff opinions.....

yeah there was a fire at umbai some time ago.... but dint hear of any disruption in the business hours...

 

umbai there have many stalls, i always got to the 1st stall at the entrance. other stalls after it i also find them quite pricey. oni the 1st one very reasonable.

 

maybe alai u have a specific one to go also, and maybe the obe i went kena carrot me... should not be the 1 u always go kua...

they can smell the singapore dollar......heeeyyyaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!...DUSH!!!...kena karate chop, or pork chop, or whatever chop........can spot a singaporean a mile away.... o_O dress like tourists, speakin singlish, how to run?

imagine we r local ppl also they tock...

another place always tok is portuguese settlement. dun care u local or tourist, there was once they bill me for beer which i dint order. really gotta check the bill before paying... crap !

1. take the "Ayer Keroh" exit, its approx 205km +/- 2km, count from the JB toll booth. just set ur odometer reading at 0km from Jb, then about 200km at the NSH u slow down. u will see a signboard showing Ayer keroh, Melaka.

i can take u guys around if u want, just wait for me right after the ayer keroh toll booth.

 

2. can take u around to few of this eating spots if u want. but be prepared for some traffic jam and huge crowd on weekends.

 

3. u sure wont be stranded on the streets at nite, if it really happen then i accompany u lah, steady boh ? hehe... ok anyway about hotels i can ask my fren to help u book a room or two in advance. no problem about that

 

4. malacca to me only have a few trade-mark spots to visit. unless u mean go riding out of town into the hillside twisties.

 

5. night spots are not a problem, whether u want a mamak or pub or disco, all r avaiable.

 

6. directions i can lead u guys back, i stay very near to the toll exit.

 

btw, wat bikes r u n ur frens riding? if u really want a more relaxed and fun filled stay, i recommend u come to malacca on thursday , stay a night and go back on friday. guarantee u sure satisfied , cos our bikers club here have rides on thursday evenings, and the program is exactly the same as wat u guys r looking for. just dat there will be a group of bikes goin together.

Didn't know melaka has got hillside twisties. which part of melaka. next time i wana go mebe u can take me there. enjoyed my last attack on the genting/bukit tinggi twisties.

the twistie route in malacca is called "tehel-asahan-simpang bekoh-kuala pilah"

of course it wont be as superb as as the genting side, but u still get 100% of the thrill. later will be taking a ride to tehel-asahan route.

the whole route 2-way is about 300++ almost 400 kms.

oh kuala pillah. the last time i was in kl, the kl bikers were talking bt riding the twisties there as well. we cud have gone there today but i think its kinda bit late now i guess. be leaving for malacca at 3 later. hope i wont get lost for too long.

back from my umbai, malacca trip. ride was smooth. managed to find our way there wif little help. lucky i guess considering reaching there in the dusk. food was good. didn't exactly burn our pockets tho. will definitely be back for more ikan bakar(grilled fish)...hehe. :thumb: for pernu-umbai

hey glad to hear u had a nice trip to malacca despite some rain at johor side. aiyah i forgot to update u about the numerous stalls to choose at umbai. the best and cheapest is the 1st stall near the entrance/exit. actually i was there on sunday evening, last minute my fren wanted to go there. there were 3 of us, eat until stomach wanna burst and the bill was oni RM45.
