Just to share from me and chaochao's shootout over the weekend to KL.

Total distance travelled: 680.80km

Total petrol consumed: 43.21 litres (Using 98)

Total Average FC: 15.76km/l

Average Speed: 140 - 180 km/h

Is this the norm for FJR?

I noticed that the windshield when extended all the way up actually made my head wobble more. Any way this can be solved? Thanks bros.

And looking forward for any FJR outing..

Adding to the review, my '05 FJR feels hot at here the legs grabs the tank area even though I am going on high speeds. I've ridden Suzuki Cls 2 sports bike and it ain't as hot. Is this a norm for FJR? Thanks...

I think it is a norm for Yamaha bikes...

My ex-Fabulous-Joy-Ride also can cook "balls" and "burn" leg hair... :cheeky:

Try the Yamaha R1s too...

I heard they can cook "balls" as well as a -Fabulous-Joy-Ride does too...

However, I may be wrong, cos me very newbie in biking... :cheeky:

Agreed,my once Fazer 600 S2 is freaking hot and comparable to my Blackbird. Imagine 600 cc v 1100 cc. Cant imagine Yamaha 1000cc above bikes.

Anyway bro, I had failed to convince my 'who' to give me the fund. U might 1 2 carry on with that purchase of FJR 1300. Thanks for the patient given to me.

one of my main considerations for big bike is, 'Radiator vs Temperature'. Was wondering a near 5 yrs old bike can take the heat how much longer?? Well, I suppose doing periodically flushing of radiator would solve the issue.

Hot weather = Pros - bike cleaner, Cons - Stern test to the radiator

Raining season = Pros - Radiator not so stress, Cons - Bike freaking dirty!!!!!

Anyway, there might be a U turn for mine situation as every now and then, I try to 'jio jio' my partner.......:cheeky:

My bike is 6 yrs old. The heat issue is as bad as when I just got it. However, when the fan kicks in, it should go back to 3 bars. I flush my radiator every 20-30K. But efficiency of the fins will inevitably drop over the years due to dirt accumulation and fin deterioration. Highway riding is usually 2 bars unless its a hot afternoon.

Just get a tank bra and your balls are safe. But leg burns are harder to avoid unless you wear log pants. 06 model onwards can adjust their fairing to deflect the hot air right?

Biting on the fray of my hair, I muse upon the way to find the oasis of evermore beyond the vertical horizon, I shall join the windupdeads in owl city, neither my safetysuit nor my red jumpsuit apparatus can save me, cuz I mistook a death cab for cutie in plain white T's...

Posted

best solution is to wear long pants and shoes..not once did i not put on my jeans and shoes for riding. these 2 are very essential for riding this beast..

well, a 1300cc engine under ur legs wat can u expect rite.. but i guess im not wrong to say it does deliver the power u need and i mean real power tats y its very torquey..

so there is the 'give n take' issue lah..

What's an ADVENTURE??

EVERYTHING!!

At the beginning the heat was unbearable too, but once you get used to it, its ok. Just make sure your legs don't touch the pipes when you put them down when stopping at traffic lights. Now am used to the heat so travelling locally with shorts and slippers is ok. Bearing with the heat is a small price to pay for the power and awesome ability of this bike.

Adjusting the fairing like omni said, to deflect the hot air, really helps too.

dun think flushing of radiator got anything to do with the heat prob. if flush already temp drop, then good. if flush already still the same, that means its the bike. its built to b like that. since all yamaha bikes r hot, its the design n specs of the bike.

but to have the fan cutting in every now n then like very jia lat leh. mayb its a norm for big bike riders but not for middle size bike riders.

personal view, as long as one rides a 400cc n above bike, the heat is there n its recommanded to wear long pants n shoes when riding.

yes, big bikes normally have this issue.

But still, FJR heat issue is not as bad compared to others.

Try sitting on FZ1 or R1. More jialat den FJR!
