Hi Everyone, I'm a new FJR rider. Got an '08 in December. Just came across this thread. Nice to see this fraternity. I was wondering if there is a popular place for mods like windshield, seats, etc for the bike? I wish I saw the thread earlier.. I would have tried to make it for the meets!

mine is 08 model, had adjusted the height liao but still tip toe.

advise from my bike shop is that if install lower kit, main stand very hard to put up as clearance height has drop & bike will be like up right postion when putting on side stand ..... haiz think i had to leave with it

Judging from what you said, I also think I'll live with the stock seat height. Would be risky if bike's upright even if its on side-stand.

to mount a givi box, you'll have to get the givi metal frame. Last known price is $220 from Chiap Lee. Den the base plate and the box. If u plan to ride the bike 4ever, u can use maddog's suggestion and drill hole on stock frame. If not, it may affect the value of the bike when u resell.

Btw, the rack quite bulky, so, not recommended that you ship in yourself. The volumetric weight will be quite high.

 

Here is a link for installation instructions of the rack and plate. "The rack + plate" model number is SR346.

 

Oh - its twistedthrottle.com! I bought some stuff from them as well... yes - its quite ex to have it shipped over.

Btw, given the fixed holes drilled into the bracket, does it means that not all Givi base plate can fit? Maybe one of the days, I'll bring along my base plate and see if it fits to your bracket.

Juz some info on F/C of my '05 FJR:

 

At avg speed 140kph, 2UP mode, GP to AK = F/C is 14.6KM/L

At avg speed 110kph at trunk and town roads, 2UP mode = F/C is 15.6KM/L

At avg speed 160kph, 2UP mode, AK to GP = F/C is 13.2KM/L

 

By trial-error, I've to raise the shield to the max so that my pillion will feel more comfortable. Putting the shield any lower, the wind blast then to "force" her backwards.

 

Also, with the shield up to max, the wind blast tends to "envelop" into the rider, "forcing" the rider forward. (Manzz had mentioned this a few pages before) Rider has to exert extra strength towards the handle bar to resist. Quite strenuous over long rides i.e. either rider or pillion has to sacrifice comfort.

like that dunno is it the same as my model ('04). the ABS will light up when agressive E-brake. but switching off and then switch on the bike again then problem solve le.

Bro,u will need to enter via 2nd link at Tuas to go to GP Esso (Gelang Patah Esso petrol station)..u got mention JB, tat will be going in from woodlands chkpt which is super far.

Fyi, GP Esso is situated right after M'sia customs at 2nd link..need to ride a bit further in front exit Gelang Patah RnR.

 

Bring along ur cashcard(to be used at S'pore custom) and some Msia RM(to be used at M'sia customs) with u for the toll payment..

 

If u dun know how to even get to 2nd link by Tuas,its best u get someone from here whos used to comin in n out from GP to mit u somewhere and go in together. There's always a 1st time bro, EVERYONE starts out tat way..
