Hullo guys,

Me just got back from my 1st trip on my fjr to the "Land Of Smiles" ! It was a very nice ride up to koh samui . Weather was fine n it never rain when I was on the road from spore all the way to koh samui . The only bad part is from rawang all the way to the bukit merah r&r . . . it was extremely foggy ! I passed the route @ 4am . . . Visibility was not more than 40 meters .

Anyways, for my trip experience . . . I had use my top box to carry some tools n foot pump as my side box was almost full . The bad thing abt top box is that it gets very unstable at speeds above 180 km/h cos of wind resistance n cross wind . Even at the gurun corners to go at high speed oso very shaky . Fuel consumption on the fjr was very good !

On my next trip up . . . I will try not to use my top box but just strap a backpack on the rear seat.

Have a good day ahead guys !

Bro, what matter most is your safe return. Welcome back. Time for teh tarik la bro.

Haha, I don't know enough abt GTR yet to fall in love with it, bro. Still in love with the FJR. I had been wooing that bike for a whole year before I finally bought my 1st FJR 3 yrs plus ago.

I miss the land of the smiles, though I'd only rode up there once before with bros in this forum. 2011 should see me clocking my 2nd ride up there.

Count me in..

Bro...first of all welcome home!! how was ur trip??

Anyway abt the top box issue...It is ok if there's a pillion and the cross wind & air turbulence won do any diff if u riding at average of 200kph...if u not bringing any pillion i suggest that u bring a tank bag instead of top box..much betta!

Most important is u n ur grp came back safely!!!

Hullo bro . . .

The trip was awesome ! Not only it was bcos it was my 1st long ride on my fjr but oso bcos of the group I'm wif . Abt the box . . . . if wif pillion surely no problem one ! Me actually wanna use my tank bag but felt like obstruction n chose e top box instead - wrong choice ! The box came in handy on the shopping part though . . . hahaha ! Next trip will try the tank bag .

Anyways, when wanna meet up again for a short ride up ?

the air turbulence is strong, upper body is ok its only the lower body part feel like my feet is gona blow off any sec and my wife also complain that the pillon foot rest not comfort at that speed her feet also flying off haha

2006 Comet GT 125

2006 Baby kawa 150 krr

2006 Honda RVF

2009 Honda CB 1000 R (The beast had been Release!)

2010 Yamaha FJR 1300

Next will it be BMW 1600 or quit ridding go for 4 wheel ???

END UP i drive  but i really miss my fjr..

at that speed, anything or everything oso can fly.

my experience with side panniers is that it's more balance at high speed. sori my high speed is 180km/h only.

top box, for me a givi rack and givi box 45litre built for my 04 fjr does not hv much issue on stability. other top boxes which requires to drill a hole through may not apply.

when travelling at high speed, windshield must be at the lowest or the handle will wobble.

During my last trip up North...240km/h with fully loaded side panniers....I rode bending down llike sportbike behind the shield...shield was down...straight road no problem...I only face slight wobble well closing throttle to reduce speed...I find myself too light and short for the bike...sigh!! I dont experience an upright sitting position like most riders do..

Nevertheless....its fun riding FJR isnt it??? Shiok with only minor discomfort which can be ignored..
