http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle_oil

"Many motorcycles have a wet clutch, where the clutch plates are immersed in oil. Some oils make the friction plates in the clutch slippery so that the clutch doesn't engage properly when shifting gears, or the clutch slips when the engine exceeds a certain torque. Some oils contain friction reducing chemicals. One element of the JASO-MA standard is a friction test designed to determine suitability for wet clutch usage. An oil that meets JASO-MA is considered appropriate for wet clutch operations. Oils marketed as motorcycle-specific will carry the JASO-MA label. A properly specified motorcycle oil will still allow for the appropriate lubrication and cooling of a motorcycle clutch, whilst maintaining 100% of the drive to be transmitted by the clutch, even under arduous operating conditions."

I've got a Bagster Tank-Bag that fits a Bagster tank-bra. The bag can be expanded to a size large enough to store a full-face helmet and still have space for some miscellaneous stuff.

don't think you'll find anyone here who'll advise a FZ1 over a FJR 

fz1 gotta think about chain

fz1 must buy your own box

i dun think riding years count, everything is back to zero.

i think only 2 companies do fjr insurance. NTUC and Allianz.

28 yrs old expensive, last time i saw on this thread, someone was saying 1.3-1.5k 3rd party?

bro , where u bought your FJR? from HL? care to share how much is OTW plus insurance. thks man :)

I bought the 2011 model from imotoring. Machine price is $25.5K. Insurance for 27yrs old + 25% NCD = $800 - $850.

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.

motorbike? 25%?

i thought bike maximum is only 20%?

first party at $800-850 is NCD is very good already, which insurance company?

when i had my bike in 2006, i was paying close to $1000 with full NCD and every where i go, i am quoted $1.3-1.5 for 30+

i have to pay for loading this year, but next year i will be paying $700+

i think i found out why the handlebar is vibrating a bit more than my previous bike.

i went to check my tire pressure and it was way over the recommended pressure.

so this morning i went to pump the tyres when they were still cool.

this evening i tried above 130 and it was much more comfortable compared to when i first got my bike.

but maybe this solution applies to me only, not sure if tyre pressure will help u guys with the vibrations. btw its 270 front tyre, 290 rear tyre.

What is the recommended tyre pressure with pillion & w/o pillion ?

According to 2008 manual, its 270 front and 290 rear (kPa). Although i tend to go 280f and 300r. Pressure when cold.

my honest and onerous advice and suggestions are as follows:

1. if you got class 2 licence, why restrict to fz1 and fjr? both are heavy and fast bikes lah.

2. if petrol is your concern, then why fz1 and fjr? both are thirsty for petrol.

3. if insurance cost is your concern, sure it is, given your age of below 30, then why fz1 and fjr? the insurance will visit you once every year like a loan shark.

4. if you have to downgrade from car to bike due to financial reason, then why fz1 and fjr? they drink the same amount like car. maintenance and road tax is as bad with fz1 slightly cheaper. unless you are downgrading from a BMW 5 series or Merc S class.

5. if you dont intend to go fast, then why fz1 and fjr? they are both fierce bikes you know.

6. if you want to feel and look good changing from car to bike, then your choice for either fz1 and fjr is damned rite. of cos fjr is the clear choice over fz1 here cos this is a fjr thread. and we love our fjr deep deep lah.

looking at your situation, you need a x1r instead. but you are welcome to join us lah. many fjrians here like you, just hanging on while petrol price keep surging.
