Hello Bikers,

I might be upgrading from S4 to Z1000, maybe I get some info from you guys?

1) Whats the oldest batch of z1000? FW plate?

2) Insurance for a 23years old?

3) Which Motordiams got z1000?

Many good year ahead.

The oldest zeds u will find are FW plates, '03 models, later models have colour differences, and the KAWASAKI name on the fuel tanks are solid metal types, 03s have theirs lauquered over. Later models also have electronic coded ignition keys, 03s are using good old tamper proof system..

Certain early 03 bikes have oil seep problems from the top cam covers, most would have change this by now, not a very expensive job. The main problem is the rubber gasket between the top cam covers and the top block. I replaced mine months ago and theres slight differences in design between the two.

Must have are :

1) Steel Brakelines

2) After market wind shields

3) Engine casing and sliders

4) Dampers

Fuel consumption also varies from different bikes, i'm used to getting 220km to 230km till the fuel light flashes, (using v-power), nw getting about 250 to 260 when i change to 98. reserve last another 40 to 50 clicks..

I'm not intending to sell my zed resale is not much of a problem to me.... but it still holds it value for the fact that thers not many around to start with, its a naked bike not a sports bike, so it won't lose its value over 2 years when a new model comes out.

Insurance is about S$1,550 (2nd party) for your age :thumb:

Looi's & Evershine also have Z1000, but I think they are selling the new ones.

2) i know sliders can be install from motoworld, but where do i install those mushrooms type? brand? maybe pauche can input your comments?

3) where would be a good place to service the z?

4) those with pc3, may i know wats before and after your perfomance and mileage? was thinking of other source (grounding/volt-stab/etc)

5) is it safe to deal from ebay? i never bought anything before from ebay.

6) accessories? - anyone using tankbra? brand? and where?

- fender eliminator? where?

7) those full-system, for eg micron, i know they are street legal, is there any TWIN end can full system that are legal?

haha why me? :D

anyway saw u on the road last week, at PIE exit paya lebar there.

1) the catalic converter is built in in the 4 end cans. And they are welded.

2) u can contact motrax33 aka alvin for motovation sliders. or go to shah at biketech21 for ER sliders.

3) any shops will do.

4) mileage slightly better, acceleration is smoother and u can have more options with the PC3 acceleration pump installed. go to their website for more info on it.

5) ebay is generally safe cos payment is by paypal. i bought some parts there too. another place to get zed parts is http://www.z1000.net.

6) fender eliminator can DIY, not a diff task. tank bra must ask z1boy, think he has a lockhart phillips half cup bra..... :D

Thx guys for the input.

So I assumed a full tank Z1000 can travel abt 230-280km?

1) How many litres will that be?

2) Any1 can enlighten me? comparing a z1000 to a fazer1000?

3) Does z1000 have yoshi full system? (yoshi fan here) :giddy:

4) I doubt i can afford a 1sthand z1000, but I presume OTR price is abt 20k?

Many Good years Ahead.

Well, Tank bra is okay for big bike, but I still like my Zed to be "naked lime green" :cheeky:

My Zed's sliders is also install by motrax33, good to install when you have the cash :thumb:

Many Good years Ahead.

1) I have not count the fuel consumption yet, but heard from other Zed rider that for 1 liter of petrol can travel about 17km (or less) after you break-in your new engine. And the fuel tank for Z1000 is 18 liter.

Let say 1 liter = 17km

Therefore 18 liter = 17km x 18liter = 306km (too good to be true)

But it will get lesser, the way you whack your Zed may differ the fuel consumption.

2) For this question ask Pauche again, he has the best inside view :D

But I can say with confident that the Z1000 is the King of Street fighter so far. The fun part is the pick-up speed, if you dare to play the throttle from traffic light, you will be amaze how far behind the other car is when you glance at your mirror. The pick-up speed from 0km to legal speed limit will make you smile at least. Yet the engine heat is still bearable. But beware of the 2006 Naked Fazer, definately head-on collison with the Z1000. I have read some article, it stated that the 06 naked Fazer's pick up speed from 0km to legal speed is FASTER than the R1, amazing. I wish to see one this year when I am with my Zed. Both are more than 200kg wet weight.

3) Ask Pauche :thumb: The twincan IS the trademark of the Z1000. But since you are yoshi fan, so just do it, the option is yours.

4) For your age, 90% of the chance you will have to pay more than S$20K OTR. I will say S$21,000...

average fuel consumption I had was 17km/ltrs for local riding

for touring at 120-130kmh, i can get 17.5km/ltrs

for cruising at 160kmh, i can get 14-15km/ltrs

for high speed riding at above 200kmh, is about 10-12km/ltrs

acceleration from 0-100 is 2.9secs (extracted from dunno which mag), and is the 12th fastest production bike's acceleration (tested in 2004).

Well , most aftermarket pipes are twin cans, remus, akraprovics, yoshis, arrows, but lazers have both twin cans and a four can system... very beautiful.....

so far the nices looking cans are yoshi tri overs in carbon fibre....

i was actually looking at the fazer1 before i saw the zed.... comparing both of them, my heart went to kawasaki, something about yamaha making pianos first.. hahaha...

but the fazer is moving towards the sport touring segment. another model FZ1 (same bike, without the front fairing) is the bike gg head to head with zed...

But i thk after kawasaki heavy industries finish building their trains, ships and fighter planes (yes, kawasaki built fighters at first, not pianos... hee heee) maybe they jus drop the ZX10r engine into the z1000 for fun.....
