hi planet regulars here. Like to check with u guys something. Last week i sent my bike to planet for repair(met with accident), thus doin insurance claim thru ah chong an planet. I went over to see the status of my bike today but its not there. Was told by ah chong n ah peng tat coz its claim case, the bike was sent to elsewhere for repair. I would prefer planet's mech to do the repair as i trusted ah chong.

Does any1 here knows where was my bike sent to?

you have to check with ah chiong.. i'm not sure either..

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

50th Time at Planet!

02/03/2010

02:50pm

mood: 1/2 Sian, 1/2 Happy

Bike (DR800) cannot start after stalling on the way to JB!

Called Ah Chong, and he ask me to use the size 10 spanner to do something, but I didn't hear clearly because the road besides very noisy, so didn't understand. Take out fuses put spare ones in also no cure, don't even see neutral light.

So send for Tow truck, go there, Ah Chong personally trouble shoot, in literally 1 min, problem solved. The problem was the wire connected to the battery was loose, so he used size 10 spanner tighten the nut ok liao, so in short I spent $20 to tighted one nut ..... :sian: (tow fee)

Kena swaned by Ah Chong for being a "Don't listen to what he said child"

When I was there the shop as usual very busy. Met Wei Xiang there doing up his Shadow. When he asked if the bike can be ready by 6 o'clock, Ah Chong very cute said the bike will be ready by 6 o'clock tomorrow morning!

So since I was already there, I also changed engine oil. All D.I.Y, because the mechs all busy, but Ah Chong help to feel to see what size nut, and lossened it. Very "God like!" Touch 1 time only, know what size spanner to use, no need see!

Then when draining out the oil, this Ah Chong straighten the bike with me on the right side, then he said, " Don't Kan Chiong the bike must straighten then can drain out all the oil, tilt more to the right also nevermind, because if fall over, I am on the other side. Crushed also not kena him! hahaha

So D.I.Y 2.6 bottles of Motul Semi Syn. :)

Then quickly went cycling with my classmates at East coast!

51st Time at Planet!

19/03/2010

03:35pm

weather: Slightly wet after a small drizzle.

mood: =)

Went to Planet to get a new Speedo cable, because I have been riding full throttle the whole week. But it turns out I didn't have to, because when the China Mech tried to change the cable, the cable came right off. With having to unscrew the cable!

So just screwed it back, Ah Chong didn't even charge me a single cent.

Must be too much vibrations, cable fell out.

While I was there I also asked for a new battery for my DR, but there was no stock so got Ah chong to order a new one, in the mean time, borrowed a spare old battery home to try to start the bike. Kee! Kee! As unusal, no extra charge!

P.S: While I was there, there was also a female biker, riding a blue, kawa I think. Her Carb something wrong, so Ah Chong was showing her 2 different carb. Like teacher giving lecture like that. :D

52nd Time at Planet.

27/03/2010

12:35pm

weather:Sunny

Went back to Planet to collect my special Battery. $48.

But battery wasn't here yet, so waited around for 1/2 and hour.

While I was there I saw Wesone working on his KSR''s leaking hose.

I also asked Ah Chong to check why my Phantom got Squeaking sound. Ah chong's diagnose was "if don't want the sound take away the fuel tank!"

Turns out the tank's rubber was rubbing against the mounts giving the squeaking sound.

Then headed out to wash bike with PureIce, Kaylan and jtzx when my battery arrived.

the blue KR owner is malay?

Nope, she's female chinese.

Hello, been introduced by someone to go planet. Anyways, i'm riding KRR, do they look into problems like bad FC and so on? So they can do something to improve the FC and reliability of the engine? :)

Posted

Phantom developed strange ticking noises and brought to Planet for doctor's opinion at 8.45am (yep, before they opened). Ah Chong test rode the bike after being concerned about "knocking" (predetonation) problems.

Bike came back with a happy Ah Chong saying "everything is fine".

I rode the bike later to the phantom washing guild meet ( :p ) and discovered the idle and carb settings must have been altered because it's now aeroplane smooth and cruises very efficiently. :3 I didn't know what exactly they did to the bike because I was inspecting another Phantom that came in for overhaul and talking about mechanical geeky stuff.

I wasn't asked to pay for the "consultation" but I insisted lol, and Chong took $2.

Other Phantom (which appeared to have just returned from World War 3) got a top overhaul that the boss offered to complete in 1 day despite the very good business. Incredible service.

Being an ardent supporter of Planet Motor for so long, I must say that their service is very good and their pricing certainly gives other motortiams in Singapore a run for their money. :thumb:

been to planet once to change my x1r rear tyre last year, mech very friendly but go home wash bike and found my rim got 1 long scratch.

It's ok. Since you are a bike cleaner, I'm sure you have found a solution for your rims. :thumb:

lol. how to "clean" a scratch, use shampoo or wax?

 You can use course sandpaper, than use fine sandpaper to smoothen the finishing. After that use shampoo or wax to give it shine.

All else fails, complain to Ah Chong and see what he says.

You said you change your x1r rear tyre last year, how come you wait until now?

ah tee ah.. this one ah.. u dunno ah.. sometime people go workshop, then go lacing like me.. then buang the bike. THe bike picha, then say, ah ya, the shop picha my bike. Next year then i realize. No head no tail one. Best is confront the shop. Too long liao, kpkb on forum no use one. No proof. My word against urs.

Left my bike there since last week to let Ah Chong do a full body comprehensive checkup.

Ask him to change whatever that need to be changed.

For so many items changed/serviced, he only charge me 1/5 of what i expected to pay in the beginning.

Freaking good and honest bike shop.

I like the "bmw" throttle grip he changed for me.

Strongly recommended !!! :D

Slow down abit, smell the air and enjoy the scenery.

Caught the touring bug once again!

He's a natural joker. Be it in Mandarin, Hokkien or even Malay! He's absolutely entertaining.

Most importantly, he's a very honest boss who charge very reasonably and with good workmanship. Just compare his prices with the other shops... and you make the judgement yourself.

Ah chong very good. When my bike keep stalling while riding, he recommend to change the magnetic coil. So i changed a 2nd hand coil.

However, the bike still stalls. In the end, it was the CDI problem. Ah chong still discount me the CDI price because they diagnose the problem wrongly and my old coil was supposedly still in working condition.

You go other shops, they diagnose wrongly also won't discount you.
