There is another way, take out ure termo-set, let d water flow all d way when u start d bike. Then it will cool faster. But U must always check ure radiator water once every 2-3 days.

You might want to check first if the EFI loads different maps at different temps.

Case Study :

my TL1000R.

With normal glycol-based coolant (and Engine Ice), it runs at normal 85-87 deg C and heats up very quickly at long traffic stops.

Someone suggested before to take out the thermostat to allow continuous flow of coolant. Of course, this brings down the temp to a constant 65 deg C.

But a quick read of the service manual indicated tat a richer map is loaded into the ECU at temps below 80 deg C to facilitate cold morning starts. Once it reaches 80 deg C it then loads the normal running map.

So can imagine running a richer map all day long.

I think I'll stick with WaterWetter, manual radiator fan switch and planning my trip in advance. Runs at a better 83 deg C.

WildCard, nice to know someone else actually reads the manual in detail rather than do surjery on their bikes based on incomplete understanding of their machines :thumb: I have heard some well respected members of the local track scene recommends doing this, but please bear in mind that their bikes are often track only, dry weather machines made to perform at high loads for most of their operation time.

Just like race tires need hard running to reach a certain temp to warrant their use, the same with such a mod. Street riding just do not push the kind of temps. Come rain, the evaporative cooling effect of water on the radiator is tremendous, your temps will plunge uncontrollably with the thermostat removed!

Glycol free coolant like WW and Maxima Cool-Aide is the best bet. Planet now stocks Maxima Cool-Aide, ask Ah Chong for it.

I'm using it for my Haya n my bandit. i can say, :thumb: n it's not ex at all. If not wrong, $10 for tat.

At last, I see 3 sets of grounding wire n Planet liao. Just fix 1 on my haya, nw left only 2. Ah Chong told me tat this wires run out very fast one, n D supplier got it from Euorpe.

It's totally different from wat moto world is selling. Motorworld grounding wires is use for Cars if look carefully at d packet b4 d staffs there d staffs there install it for U. These wires which Ah-chong is using is only for motobikes.. See for ureself when U r there.

Ah-beng just install it for me, wat I can say, :thumb: . Straight away, i feel d different after installing unlike those motorworld ones.

Thankies.

Its a result of being unable to pay for regular servicing.

So I learnt to do a lot of DIYs myself to save costs.

One question, how long does the Cool-Aide last before a top-up or change is required? Wanna give it a try.

Same here Wildcard, the spirit of DIY lives! It is also nice knowing that our bikes are not molested by uncaring hands.

As for Cool-Aide, the manufacturer recommends a yearly change at the specified concentration mix of 1 FL Oz per quart (30ml per litre). A higher concentration of Cool-Aide will provide even longer protection, but a yearly flush is a good way of keeping tabs on how things are and is good practice.

You may find the need to top up distilled water in the overflow tank once in a while. There tend to be more evaporative losses with non-glycol coolant.

Motor world ones R mainly for cars if U see d packaging carefully... It's too thick for bike. Bikes should used lower voltage n more slim grounding wire.

A... If U got d $$, U go n try out at Motorworld ones then U go planet n try. Sure got a lot of big different one. I have try both of them, So I know it.

I can say d pulling force is stronger.... tat is wat i can conclude.

guys as wat i read, ah huat is a new mech there at planet is it? how do u guys find him. i find him very sincere and nice guy. nv show any stuck out face and take good care of your bike.

i had this problem with my front bulbs. went there for them to check out.. he told me have to change the big lamp but not really necessary to spend extra $$ cause i can use one side light bulb instead. so i didnt change anything nor paid anything. i was about to push my bike out when he bent down and checked my chain, tighten it for me and lub it. he also went to check my tyres pressure and pump air for me.

after he push my bike out of the workshop, i forgot my helmet. he personnally took my helmet from the shop and walk to me.

though wat he did was not much, but i am touched by their service he gave me compared with other shops. :thumb: :thumb: for him..

all i can say though planet's price abit higher, but their service and skills power!! u got to pay more for better returns.
