No offence, just a correction ... ...

Pei Seh Pei Seh..... Sorry I'm wrong.... :cheeky:

It's suppose to be 11.5:1... 12.5:1??? Too high Compression for STock JDM?

We talking about the K20A right???

Aiyo ... is a never endng story when one think about what car they like, my favourite car, which car faster, who faster than who ... ... ? Oooh plz ... ...

Just go back to the basic ... "need for speed" or it can means "fast & furious".

What make a car fast ?

In singapore what are the common fast car ?

How fast you want ?

How much you willing to spend ?

HP you gain worth the penny ?

Now, all these voice down to new age "science today". Application done to suits SG roads.

Turbo ... just charge and keep charging, you sure get faster and faster ...

NA ... lightening and keep stripping, performance keep better and better ...

04 essential facts must always consider; engine power, cooling systems, braking power and aero dynamics. All these contributes HP, not the braking of course.

Next big questions ... ...

Do you have comfortable spending power ?

Eg. You prefer to change a suspension at 2k or 6K ?

Do you know the constituents behind the true ?

You may properly getting external issues having politic and unhappiness with the mod workshops ?

Conclusion is to keep simple, cost effective and high performance.

Get real ! In SG, is all about car set up, not the high HP that counts.

i'm sorry if i offended u in anyway but i'm just sharing some of my favourite fast cars here... :cheeky:

n i'm sure it wun be off topic to "need for speed"...

how much one willing to spend on his car is personnal for mods or handling or beauty.

there use to be a old time saying among the older street racers" if u wanna play and mod, dun bother about the fines. if u scared of fines, then dun play..."

esp now so many mods are already legalised.. so no worries!!!

some pple spend up to 20-30k on mods some just enough to satisfy thier own needs...some basics will be the ecu, pistons, and exhaust system. this is enough to bring a car 324bhp @4200rpm on the wheels. i termed the ecu as the brain. the piston as the heart and exhaust as the breathing system. these 3 are the most essential and basic in engines mods. of course before doing all these u have to do properly handling and braking....

as for impt of hp in singapore. it alsp depends on individual. if u are a corner freak like me, proper and good set up is not enough for us, as if u do not have enough HP to pull u out or a fast corner, chances of understeering is very very high which may pose as a danger. as we cannot play straight roads here. of course the best place is track...

but if pple just wan enough fun factor in their car to satisfy wat is enough for them to handle, hp is not essential compared to proper car set up.

kallang rally or any other races do not set up different classes for different HP cars for no reasons. all race cars are set up to the best set up. but diff HP will determine which classes they will go if not the 400++bhp evo will eat the 200++ civic flat!!

just sharing my pt of view...

cheers!!!

i prefer engines tat can drag up till 18k rms, not like turbo they can lag when loss in acceleration...:giddy:

Actually depends on wat u look for in a car and wat u wanna it do for ya....

I give for example:

4WD Turbos like Evos, rex, accent WRC bla bla need the 4WD cos of the sandy or rocky tarmac and they need the sudden boost of the turbo to pull them out of the drift esp on sandy areas. Lag does not really happen here cos they will be holding the rpm to pull them out of the drift.

Drift race u will need a FR car preferably Turbos. U notice favourite drift cars used are always the S13/14/15. U will need the nose heavy where the engine will be in front and the power to oversteer thus causing the car to drift and u will need to hold your RPM during a Drift and thus turbo comes in handy cos they will boost at 3krpm above thus giving the car more then enough power to pull itself out of the drift faster. even in the Show Project D where Buntat is trying to show his son Takumi that his AE80 has it's litmit no matter how good the engine(notice the engine used on his AE80 real power band comes in after 11k rpm) or driver by using a GC8 WRX to trash his son. Realise most of the cars used in the show are FR turbo cars except the AE80 and evos?? like the S13, MR2, RX7 (FD3S and FC3S),Skyline R32(FR turbo also), Sil 80, S14, S15, MX5..... The only FFcar used is the Civic. Notice only the red EG6 drift but by pulling the Handbrake. Later on the yellow EK9 by the professional racer never or seldom drift but uses good linings to conquer the corners???

MR NA like NSX, Lotus elise, F1s are for track... These cars have very good weight distribution cos the CG will be acting on the centre of the car as the engine is near middle of the car and the power train on the rear thus reducing tremendously on both understeer and oversteer. as u know drifting waste a lot of time in track timings and is not the fastest way in and out of the corner.. u dun see F1s drift but using good linings on the track. As for such cars they need NA power with high RPMs cos they cannot afford any lag as every second in accerlaration counts...

FF NA like Civics, Integras, Alfas are for Amatuars Track race as these cars usually have a litmit to HP due to the nature of a FF car thus too high a HP is very very dangerous for such cars due to under steer and chassis structure. Thus they are used for Amatuars class track races. Same theory they prefer NA cos of turbo lags and every second counts....

As for me I prefer a 4WD turbo car like the evo or rex is cos I love corners and am a corner man thus I need a turbo car to pull me out of a fast corner and I need a 4WD cos I dun have the skills to do and countersteer for oversteer (Drifting) and no $$ for good MR cars thus i need a 4WD for such purpose cos i lousy driver... :cheeky: I chose a Evo to a rex cos the evo has much lesser turbo lag cos it is a In Line 4 engine as the boxer engine lhorizontal piston layout causes the turbo air intake to lag a lot :weep:

My take is for EVO .. but that is unless I am SUPER RICH .. got $$$ donno where to spend ..than buy an EVO ...

Why EVO? Cause it is a legend

Cause it is nicer looking and more fierce

Cause I love it since Evo V

But then .. as what some other mention, practically kicks in and I chosen a normal Jap car.

Topless car ? This is my take .. it is like riding a bike but without helmet. Still will face the blowing effect of the huge lorry, the big smoke and etc. Moreover .. SG is too hot and I guess that is more suitable to cooler region.

To me ... whether corner freak or not, speed or not or whatever reason ... a fast car, a super car in SG is almost worthless cause cant maximise the performance. Unless u got the car in US, Australia or Europe where u could always top the max speed.

To me .. driving or riding in SG ... safety I guess is a concern. I see pple play with corner in SG road ... but as it is not track and for most of the time, SG corner u cant see too far ahead thus if there is an obstacle right after the bend ... wish u luck and u are in for a jolly good ride to somewhere.

Wanna play .. go track ... or at least go somewhere other in SG ba ... Cause I feel speeder or daredevils in SG, not only causing danger to him or herself but also to other road user.

Just my two cents worth.

May 1999 - Aug 1999 - Yamaha FZR150

Aug 1999 - Nov 2001 - Honda Phantom 150

Nov 2001 - Oct 2005 - Honda CB400 Superfour HYPER-VTEC

April 2005 - Aug 2010 - Nissan Latio

Aug 2010 - Aug 2011 - BMW 320
