Wanna ask what will happen if I wont pay my telephone bill. Have anyone did so? What were the consequenses?

For mobile phones, You are to clear all the outstanding bill b4 the next one arrive.. If not, You will NOT be able to call out or even SMSes. Still can recieve calls and SMSes. If youstill refuse to clear the Outstanding balance, They will start to SUSPEND your line. Not forgetting the LEGAL ACTION they will take...

Itz actually not a "lawyer's" letter.. itz juz phrased to look like one.

 

Those letters are sent by authorized debt collectors. They will take a percentage cut of the money if itz successfully collected.

yap, lawyers sent out letters are like 100plus one, if below that amount for legal fee, then may not be true, but, who want to try...

Details:- this is normal practise, might not applied to all companies

 

(1) Company will send out the letter of reminder

(2) company will send out notice of demand (NOD)

(3) company instruct lawyer to issue notice of Demand (NOD)

(4) company instruct lawyer to issue notice of termination (NOT)

(5) lawyer will server the summon

(6) court hearing

(7) pay outstanding + plus all the legal fees + court fees

(8) no money???? absent from court??? then???

(9) company can proceed the following...

(a) brankrupcy.. (not for such small amount)

(b) WSS ... high possibility

WSS is to advise the officer from court to visit the house and seal everything at home and then set a auction date, to sell everything which owned by the debtor.. to cover the cost...

 

However, most company will accept side-settlement.. which the debtor can propose how to settle the outstanding by paying instalment and etc...

actually i tried not paying the outstanding balance of $18 to m1 after i canceled my line they keep on sending reminders then in the end no more. hehehe

Just make sure that you dun subscribe to M1 in your entire life, else they'll ask you to pay the $18 before you can subscribe.

 

Else, 15 years down the road, this scenario will happen

 

You: I wan to register for a new line.

Salesgirl: Sir, can I have your IC

You: (Pass her the IC)

Salesgirl: Sir, I'm sorry but there seems to be a problem. Please wait while I check with my supervisor

You: HmmPpp....

Salesgirl (returned): Sir, I think.... You..... have an outstanding balance of $18... from ermm.... 15 years ago.... which is why I am unable to register for you. Would you like to pay up the balance so that I can open the account for you?

You: *paiseh* nevermind, think i come back again.

M1 really never do there jod properly!

i have a case more then five years ago.... I brought a handset at one of handphone shop and sign a line, they use my ic to register more then one line. Bill came to me $3000 plus. reported to police, case already settled, but my name still black listed in M1 data till now! They never update there data at all!

If its a Singtel Mobile bill, AND u refuse to pay AND u have a residential phone line also under your name THEN they will divert the unpaid bill to your residential line.

 

(this is from experience, dunno if they still do it now)

True, is the friend a singaporean?

if he is not, i think need a guarantor to sign the line right?
