Banning 2 Strokes?

Heard they banning 2 strokes in competitions soon...How true is this?Does anyone knows when?

just a matter of time before FIM-sauctioned race will have the ban on 2 strokers..

Well, at least for the GP125 will have until 2012 (if my memory doesn't fail me).. By then, the GP Mono (250cc 4 stroke single)will take over.

 

However, I believe 2strokes will still be around, well, in a form or another.. (lawn mower, rc car/boat, jet skis, new engine concepts ie direct injection, orbital engines etc etc and there're even diesel 2strokes!)
