Hi,

Tried using the cheaper ($3.50 per piece) Denso plugs (U27FER9) on my spec II...

performance wise still normal, except that the rpm fluctuates alot....

now using back the normal NGK ones... dun feel much difference in performance though... except slightly more stable rpm..

Hope it helps...:)

Since we toking abt spark plugs,

wat I always hear is that Super 4 doesn't require the use of Denso Iridium or any other expensive plugs...

not much of a difference...

anyone care to share?

if u use Iridium, u got to go to higher RPM to feel the different.

as some of them say, more for lacing lacing lo..

S4 use normal plug is good liao..its a low maintainance bike...why make it expensive leh? hehehe..

Spitefire i heard not good..

cant comment on the plug coz i neber used before..just HEARD about its comment.

Hi, anyone out there know the correct spec for spark plug gap for Super4 CB400? I have a VTEC-II.

I know most people don't gap their own spark plugs and just install them but surely there must be a recommended gap so that we can check new plugs then later clean, check and adjust plugs. Also where is a good place to buy a gap meter?

Spark plug gap refers not to the valve, but to the distance between the electrodes on the spark plug itself. For example, I have NGK CR8EH-9's in front of me. On the box diagram, step 1 tells you to check the gap and shows you exactly what the gap is.

Every engine (bike, car, whatever) has a spark plug gap specification for it to run optimally. When I tuned my own car when I was studying in the US, one of the things I would do is measure and set the gap before installing each spark plug. It can be done using a very cheap tool that looks like a disc with varying thickness all the way around. Usually the gap specification is in the owner's manual but I don't have the manual for my VTEC II.

Here is a site that shows this for a different bike but concept is the same:

Honda Ignition Timing Adjustment

Woah, not alot of ppl here does their own spark plug gap since the plugs which they can get off the shelve works alright.

But if you really wanna get the tool I believe those hardware shops do sell the thickness gauge
