im riding a version s and i think a normal denso (not the iridium) will do for me. been using it since my 1st bike.

not sure abt OWS and ngk.

I'd rather get a Leo Vince than a Louis Vuitton.

Bro, your bike just need some tuning... The problem is not with OWS spark plug, it's because your carburettor wasn't tuned properly...

But if for a new bike, normally the OEM plugs can lasts much longer. If the plugs are fouled, it is meant tat the engine isn't tuned properly in the 1st place?o_O

I tot of changing to Denso Ir but there ar 2 types IUH24/IUH27. Any expert can tell which 1 is suit S4.

The lower nmber are hotter and more suitable for street day to day and the higher number Denso IUH27 is best for long distance continuous riding like a long trip to Malaysia.

Am not am expert but just sharing my experience. Spark plug last a long time and don't really have to borther them umless they are worn. Style of riding play a major part of its' life span...wear and tear. Been riding my PB1 for the last 6 years and change spark plugs set only twice..and yes, I ride my SF hard most of the time. My first set was Denso (normal) and now using types IUH24 (iridum). Not that I have to change but I think it worth it $$s olehdi!

Now am using iridum becasue it suppose to be 7 times harder and 10 stronger or so as advertise..mannn!!!...looks like I don't have to borther about it anymore.

Life span of spark seem to be defime by proper engine tunning and proper temperature engine operation (Cooling system) in accordance to their rating type. Engine today are better design and plug last better...in th old days, seem like heat was the main caused of early plug life.

Just my thoughts.

This is my own personal experience using OWS iri plugs when travelling to Malaysia to celebrate CNY just recently.

Was travelling on the NSH at ard 120~130km/h constant when I decided to go a bit faster since the road is clear ahead.

Open throttle, hit ard 140~150km/h when suddenly "bang" a loud explosion like sound happened and my bike started making noise as though it is those kind of irritating modified kups. Luckily, the bike was still able to move straight and I did not meet any accident.

Stunned, but thinking that stopping along the highway is not a very good idea, I continued riding at 80km/h till I reached Machap R&R rest point. It was there that I found out that my 4th spark plug cap(the left most one) is not firmly attached to the engine block.

I took out my fuel tank for a closer inspection and discovered that my OWS plug has actually exploded into 2 parts! Basically, the part with the bottom screw thread is still attached to the engine and the rest of the spark plug body (Plastic body, hexagon screw, pin head) has been detached. The metal part just below the haxagon scew has been blown cleanly off.

Did not know what to do next but managed to ride the bike back to my hometown in Batu Pahat which is like 30kms away.

I just arrived back from Singapore by taking a car back and dumping the bike at my uncle's place. Hopefully, my uncle is able to get a skilled mechanic to help me when CNY is over...

Has anyone has the same experience as me? How do we remove the rest of the plug from the engine block?

I'm riding a spec 2. The plugs have prolly done ard 10,000kms. Very disappointed in them as I've gone for like 20,000kms on denso iridiums b4 and nothing like this has ever happened b4.

 !!!...Wah_Lau!!!...this is more than serious mannn!!!..never heard of this b4 in my 34 yrs of riding and knowing so many others!..OWS is made from where harh!? I can understand if the needle or the electro melted but having the body ceramic parts come apart...that's killing mannn! Thank God you okay. I actually never heard of OWS anyway..has always been NGK or Denso.

I supposed the ceramic body shattered due to excessive heat. Luckily non of the flying parts damaged anything ellse. Looks like you have to use a small drill bits and drill a small depression and use a dot punch tool and slowly tapped in circle in anticlockwise direction..very slowly..but before that, spray with WD40 or something similar to penetrate and look the broken spark plug thread. Good luck mannn! :goodluck:

I'll leave the bike to the hands of mechanics. Hopefully they can fix it. Too chem for me to try and DIY.

Next time, I'll stick to good old denso.

hey maybe the plug wasnt fitted properly into the threading of the hole?

ows iridium isnt bad. im using it. works fine. just that i do not feel any increase in power.partly cuz i'm not very sensitive. but engine is smooth. starting ignition no problems so far.

Likely this is true or it could be just that one bad plug somehow got through quality control...otherwise, world wide ows would be in trouble by now.

This is true of any spark plug indeed..they don't contribute to extra power. Read it from Denso iridum white paper itself a long time ago..just that the material use to produce these plugs makes them last much much longer and provide better spark out put for good FC efficiency...at least this is what the manufacturer of Denso said.

Nope, I guess it does not matter cos I believe the problem is in the plugs itself. If not how come only 1 plug explode? Can't be the mechanic knows how to fix 3 plugs and dunno how to fix plug 4 rite?

Will be collecting the bike on this upcoming Sat. Took so long as last week they were closed for CNY. Estimated damage for this overhaul is RM 1600. Guess that bike mechanic muz be laughing all the way to the bank. :sian:

any idea does OWS distributor do sell engine oil directly to us instead only to bike shop?? OWS EO is good, been using it for 2 times oil change. but yet to try e plug.

You are not alone... Left side OWS spark plug also broke into 2 pieces and I had to bring it to bike shop in order to remove the stucked broken piece.

Since then, I have changed to NGK Iridium and pretty satisfied with it.

Which means can use the plug as long as possible till there is difficulty starting/cranking the bike?

Apply to all the plug be it Iridium or regular plug?
