So hw to check or noe when do we need to change or spark plugs?

If you ride normally as a road commuter and with occassional rush hour speed..normal nickel spark plug on a S4 can last you at least 15k onwards. There is no fixed mileage really.

If you ride the bike hard and trash it most of the time, it might last you only 5 to 10k because the nickel is worn out fast by heat from continous hot sparking.

Anyway, if your engine splutter or feel like your fuel is wet when you rev..that's when you might want to change your plugs. For me, I ride until one of my cyclinder splutter...heee....x3!..how many "k" I oso don't know..may be 50k+ on a normal plug with decent daily road use rountines.

Stupid Hurts!.:giddy:Speed doesn't kill, mistakes does :faint:

If I will you..I won't wanna change till I know it's really bad..like bike jerk or engine splutter. It's not the cost of the spark plug that matters..its being "pratical" about usage.

Life span of spark plug (IMHO) is not to be taken in reference to period and time or mileage..but more to how they are used..much the same for eo. I give a example for you to understand better...

If you ride your bike very hard or race around quite a bit, the combustion chamber is hot, the rate of sparks firing is very much higher and all these contributes to faster breakdown, wear and tear of the elctrode core due to heat. Be it iridium, silver or nickel..the worn up rate is higher and spark plug change interval is shorten. Compare this to your regular routine usgae like just riding to and back from school, work or just commuting around under normal riding style..your spark plug last longer than you expected..even more to what the user manual says. I have experience this already.

So to say and in short, can use to it maxs..do it.:thumb:

Could be anything from your breather tube partially kink or your fuel hose (if ever replace) too long or badly align. Would not rule out dirty carbs and air filter. Try pulling in and out your coke lever a few time while trying to start the bike. After it starts...rev hi and pull and release a few more time.

hey guys..

just wanna ask regarding pile of water in the spark plug chamber.

my friend riding a spec 1 ..

after riding for around 10 min or so, the bike starts to jerk2 like piston stop move stop move and the rpm moving up and down...

when in neutral, throttle alil bit than starts to backfire and the engine die off..

he thought it was the spark plug so he changed it and found out that the plug is wet

the right side spark plug out of the 4 has alot of water...

when mechanic blow it, the water splashes out ...it looks like water mix with coolant i guess..

so does anyone knows whats the problem?

thkz!

IMHO..Denso iridium is better that's provided you get the original ones from Japan at around $80+ a set. LAB is selling it at $60 a set..not sure where it comes from but performance felt the same the first 3 months as the original.

My recommendation..use standard plug will do but if you insist on qulaity performance.go for Nology ( http://www.nology.com )...that's what I'm using now.

Bt wld iridium plugs damage our piston compared to nrmal plugs?

There is more to life than increasing it's speed:cool:

trouble starting the bike does not necessarily relate to spark plugs. It could be starter brush or electrical system cos tt's the source that provides electricity to ur spark plug, hence "sparking" it.

Just stick to this rule; change ur spark plugs regularly like once in 10000km if u're a normal commuter.

You press start no crank sound? Maybe you accidently put into 1st gear when parking?

Obvious signs to change spark plug is when smoke comes out of ur exhauct pipe on a normal day. On cold days, there might be a bit of smoke, but its fine

Wah, I did'nt knew that cus my LV quite a few times got black smoke so I thought maybe carbon to many. Is there a diff between black or white smoke?
