Went to a shop to look at a bike and was told that I cannot test it at all. If I like it, I can buy it and they will give me a month warranty to service it if anything goes wrong. Is this how it is with shops for used bikes? Some thing I find you will never know unless you try. All they would do is on the engine and let you listen and rev

I have even called a shop who would give no warranty at all but I didnt ask about the trying part because they didnt have what I want.

Is this how things work when buying with shops?

Cannot test probably means no riding. No insurance so definitely cannot.

Ya no riding. Not even testing the bike inside the shop. Idle can check, the rest can check but cannot ride at all. Is this common when buying from shops?

Posted

Yes. Unless the boss know you very well. While testing and you fall or accident, who responsible? Or if you ride away and run? There is also no insurance coverage.

Buy from owner usually can test at carpark. But I usually ask for license and hold on to it, unless he got fren u can wallup if the buyer runs away with your bike. Hahahaha

Honestly, test riding a bike at car park speed will make you any wiser ? Just wayang only

Buying an used bike naturally has highly risks than buying it new. At best, one can only make a calculated guess based on all the telltale signs of the bike and it's owner then take the plunge or walk away.

If you are looking for a hayabusa, no one is going allow you to test ride at 200kph to check its stability or if it can hit 300kph.

Consequences too high to risk it...

Not all the time we buyers can have our way...there's rules n laws we need to abide at times..

There isn't any insurance coverage even when testing in the carpark. If anything happens the rider will be charged with operating a vehicle without valid insurance coverage and insurer will absolve themselves of any claims. Any 3rd party damage will be claimed from the bike owner.
