Hi,

Would like riders around the island to feedback on where the ridiculously narrow motorcycle lots are and those with impossibly-to-get-out driveways. I have encountered quite a few. Some are narrow and the lots look ok when there are no bikes parked. But if you park in one of the inside lots and other bikes start to park, it's impossible to get out if you are on a big bike! unless you move other's bike but if got handlebar lock or another big bike, then tao tia liao!

If got narrow lots from gahment controlled ones best. E.g. HDB or URA. Got pictures best!

Its ALMOST EVERYWHERE in singapore.

I just don't unstander either. The situation in open space carparks still quite acceptable.

Mutlti-storey carparks.. some of it are quite alright as well expect that there must be one or 2 lots jus painted RIGHT beside a car lot.

If the driver not skillful enough, might hit yr bike when you'r parking man!

The worst place i feel is those multi storey carparks in shopping centers. The designers of those carparks practically has no brains OR they just feel bikers are small, thus just squeeze US!

A SUPER GOOD example, the carpark at BUGIS. Just look at some of the bike lots man. For god sake, its at one corner of the carpark with a few pathetic lots. and if you happen to ride a big bike (400 cc and above bikes).. its sometimes makes it so hard to move in to the lot or move out of the lot.

With many people going for bigger bikes nowadays, i do hope that they will design bigger lots for motorcycle next time. It seems that the lots they "paint" are catered for smaller bikes. Even if it is so, those small bikes already have some trouble parking! Just imagine a phatom parking next to yr lot on a squeezy carpark.

Nike - Just do it!

Narrow lots are also a reason for me to think twice about getting panniers for my bike. I hope to get feedback for garmet lots so that maybe i can highlight to them. Especially HDB lots. Currently i dunno if there is a standard size for motorcycle lots but if any of u is aware maybe can share. If your HDB carpark lots is ridiculously narrow, maybe can share a pic?

So far i encounter the bugis junction, bukit merah(below hawker centre), chinatown(need to check if it is HDB), suntec(lots are far. bo bian becos we not paying. but the entrance is a narrow space beside a car lot! if the driver anyhow park, all the bikers siao liao!). Some lots are painted in a stoopid manner such that getting out if the lots are fully parked is damn difficult!)

Now is the time to do something abt it!

somemore some bikers park their bikes in the middle of the lot WITH THE SIDESTAND. The handlebars end up in the next lot. The biker in the other lot will have problem moving off!

horizoner, thanks for the input. will check it out.

Below is depiction of my place's motorbike lots.

|-- Motorbike lots.

The lots are pretty narrow and you can see, the easier and more

popular lots are the ones that is along the road. (the hot ones)

Best case scenario

----------------------

Cos normally we would know where to park, and know each other,

so normally I will get my usual spot unless it's occupied by another

bike that is not from the area. (Then I will curse and swear)

Worse case scenario

-------------------------

All the hot spots are taken up.

Can't squeeze in at all to access the rest of the lots.

I normally will always park at one usual spot that is the one

highlighted as mine.

Worst case scenario

-----------------------

Parked inside the non-hot spots, want to go out and find out that

all the hot spots are taken up and cannot go out!!! :sian:

So I decided to take actions into my own hand.....

Parked my bikes in the above orientation and didn't really have

to care abt how the rest park. Cos I "Chopped" the lots there alraedy.

Until one day I kenna summoned by PREMAS for "Parking outside the

parking lot" even though I've got season parkin. Went to HDB tp appeal

and blah blah blah stupid red tape, less lots means less income (I can count

how many bikes that park at that lot, so where's the loss?) Cannot park there,

can park at other lots at the opposite block etc etc....

(I didn't ask him can I call him if i'm parked inside and blocked by all the

hot spot parked bikes or not....)

Waived off summons, re-orientate the bikes...

So far okay no problem... but if encounter the worst case scenario,

I make sure complain till jiatlet jiatlet....

what do u intend to do with the feedback ?

Feedback to carparks section in HDB loh. But first of all i gotta collate examples of bike lots that have ridiculous design. But most i encountered belong to shopping centres. Hopefully, there could be a revised standard of measurement for bigger bike lots and better overall layout design.

I agree SG EXPO ones are small, so small I cant park mine between 2 bikes cos of my wide handlebars. Bikes that park on mainstand can still manage, but sidestand confirm cannot, I always got to search for a lot at the side...if not, no choice got to park illegally.

Same sh*t happens at my place, though larger than EXPO, I still cant park between 2 bikes peacefully, cos the handlebars will venture to either lots at the side, so, the lot on the side always "chop" by me and no ones park there except me...:cheeky:

From specs.

Aprilla

Altanic 500 = 720mm; Scarbeo 500 = 785mm

Suzuki burgman 650 = 810mm

Piaggio X9 = 880 mm

HOnda

Silverwing 600 = 770 mm; ST11 and ST13 = 935 mm; NT650 (Deauvilla) = 780 mm

Yamaha XP T-max = 775 mm

That's all I have.

Shd conside length too, since most bikes comes with big rear box.

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

Posted

anyway sometime oso depends on the rider .

i always park at the outermost lot n align my bike a bit to the edge of the lot so tat the bikes which park on my left side can get out easily ,

But it seems to me tat there still r cuckoo riders who can hit my mirror given so much space .

Have to contend to adjusting my left mirror every morning when i go to work . :sian:
