Guys... Just to let you all know that some cars carry walkie talkies inside... Heard from a friend that they rounding very fast and went past a group of 3 bikers then when the last car went past the bikers, the 3 bikers sandwiched the car, not letting the car go so fast... He walkie talkie for help and the rest of the cars stop at the shoulder... When the bikers were approaching, one of the drivers swerve the car out from the shoulder to cut off a rider from blocking the other car. Almost caused him to crash. End up the cars sandwich the bikers but 2 bikers managed to get away cos theyre riding 2a or 2 bikes... left with the 2b bike didnt have enough power to get away from them... Just to inform u guys. I don't wanna hear another rider getting involved in an accident... It hurts me as much as if I'm the one that get banged...

So y did e bikers block e car?

yesterday while riding. was travelling along CTE and taking the havelock exit when this bmw chionged pass me on the upslope only to slam brakes at the turn. and the bugger drifted so far into my lane i had to blast my horn at him. then he panicked and braked even harder till almost full stop. knn cannot handle your car dun drive so fast lah.

then this morning, dunno why, a lot of drivers on the road like rushing to hell. reckless overtakes, full pedal upon green light + tailgating. then the best is this cab did a lane change with me just beside it. blasted my horn but he still continue turning in. this time just hold the horn there and throttle out of the idiot's way. nabei.... turn ur head will die ar?

u need to be young and reckless to become old and wise..... if u survive

big eat small mentality. i would love to drive a tank some day. not to bully others, but to make them think twice about bullying me.

Tailgating is common. I've come to accept it. and just switch lane let them overtake me, and get cockblocked by the car in front of me previously, while i lanesplit away from them with a chuckle.

What if you're being tailgated, there's a lorry maintaining its speed beside u and you're about to turn right at the junction ahead but there's no cars in front of u? What would u do?

Hmm... i need to know more details... am i on the lorry's left, or right? hahaha...

If i'm on the right of the lorry, then it's not really an issue, signal right ahead of time, and cautiously, gradually slow down to make the turn. If the driver bang me, clearcut his fault. I'll claim until he pok kai.

If i'm on the left of the lorry, same thing, i will signal right ahead of time, and cautiously, gradually slow down to let the lorry ahead, then i change lane. Reason being, if i chiong in front of lorry, i might run out of road to make that right turn safely (you didn't say how close the right turn is, so i'm assuming maybe 100-150m distance). If the driver horn me, then too bad lor, he no understand. Besides, i'm on a left lane, left is for slower traffic. He want to go fast, he should be on right lane.

Glad u say stupid thing tat e riders did. Still got some hope. But ur initial a bit misunderstanding. When i read, i thought it was e cars tat were a problem. In fact it was e riders tat were e problem and e cars were playing nice didnt just outright bang them.

So u should ve said be careful foof stupid riders on e road or care who u ride with in case they abandon u. Not about walkie talkie or no walkie talkie. :)

nothing. I just sign right and carry on my riding. If i was below spd limit and i spd up, if not then doesnt matter since i turning right. But of coz to begin with, i would be signalling right already. Smart drivers going straight would ve change lane left and went on. If stupid driver then i pray.

Dun really c e problem in ut scenario.

Think got a post state tat safer dun try on bike. Becoz if got misunderstanding then risky.

Today saw a rider, constant, steady, nothing much to comment, except no signal intention.

Manage to stop near him and talked to him about it and he was receptive.

To e rider, ur riding nothing wrong at all no worries. Just hope u will signal more. :)

Tat rider must b thinking, road courtesy campaign on-going? :cheeky:

You're on the right of the lorry. If u maintain speed, the BMW behind u is closing the gap. If u slow down, the gap closes much faster. You're maintaining speed at about 70km/h. If he hits u, you'll fly to the grilled divider or onto oncoming traffic or into the Lorry's path. Will u still slow down or maintain speed or speed up?

Like i said, if i'm on the RIGHT side of the lorry and making a RIGHT turn, then i have all rights to slow down to a speed which i feel comfortable in to make that right turn safely within reason. If that BMW rear ends me, then it is totally his fault unless i did not signal my intention to turn right, thus when i slowed to make right turn, he bang into me. Then that will become partially my fault.

Having said that, i think he will only be able to hit u until u fly if you do a sudden braking. If you brake gradually, means u're only slightly slower than him. So if he bang you, u still have enough momentum going forward to absorb quite a bit of the impact and u'll still have some control, as opposed to when u're almost stationary. Physics is interesting.

As for me, I'll still signal my intention to turn right ahead, and gradually slow down to at least a comfortable speed for me to take that right turn. If he continues closing in, then he must be a moron wanting to be sued by me.

RIDE.

You're weird u know... Prevention is better than cure... If u have the chance and ability to speed up and increase distance between yourself and the car, and also have the chance and ability to slow down and make a comfortable turn, u rather take the risk of him rear ending u at a speed of 70km/h with so many possible death hazards... Ever think about what if he rear ends u, and instead of slowing down, he speeds up? U got the momentum, but the momentum won't be there for long if his bumper is in contact with your rear wheel constantly. And imagine if he turns slightly to the left, your rear wheel will follow to the left, and your front wheel in the same position. Change in momentum. Anyway, u can never be too sure of what Singapore drivers are thinking of. I know that for sure. Been rear ended once on 30 July 2012 and another one on 14 march 2013. Less than a year apart. Both while in stop position, July one in a jam, the march one while waiting for pedestrians to cross...

I don't think you see the logic behind your question. Let's change the question slightly. What if it wasn't a right turn, but a red light? You brake and stop at the line, he doesn't stop, then bang you, how? Or you see and then u scared, you chiong the red light, kena camera, licence suspended, or worse, bang against traffic coming from your left and right, still die mah.

How do you know if he will not slow down from a glance at the mirror? hard, unless u keep observing the mirror for at least 2 seconds. and dun forget u're making a right turn, you need to check oncoming traffic, pedestrian crossing from curb to curb at the road you're turning into, check blindspot for motorcyclist squeezing from your left and right.

I'd rather deal with one known form of danger, and finding possible escape route like jumping off bike to hold onto the fence on curb on my right, than to risk 4 different unknown dangers when i accelerate away from him to take the right turn at a high speed which i'm not comfortable at.

If he bang me, his fault. If i siam, and bang into pedestrian, or other vehicles, my fault.

True, but the scenario that PJY described is a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. If you slow down, the BMW will bang you. If you speed up and turn, then you risk colliding head on with the oncoming traffic or banging down pedestrian.

Come to think about it, i got yet another solution to this problem. I can choose to speed up, and overtake the lorry, so the BMW can overtake me. I may miss my turn, but i'm pretty sure there's a u-turn ahead that i can make to get back to my intended course. This will probably be the best course of action.

Yea.. I'll go with the same option. Speeding up and overtaking the lorry on the left (means aborting ur right turn) is more dangerous as the lorry may speed up/may turn right. If speed up and take the right turn fast also dangerous, moreover now if u get accident its cleary your fault and u may also end up killed if someone ran the lights.

Face it. We riders are always facing the possibility of accident everyday. Better to ride defensively than aggressively. Wu eh bo eh open throttle to increase distance from tailgaters is called aggressive riding leh.
