Don't need to clutch in and rev, can just down gear instead, i think that's not as harmful for the clutch. Gear 2 gear 3 rev at 7-8k rpm enough. I do that sometimes to blow clear 2T while on the e-way. But sometimes i scared other people see, then they thought i challenging. But since i going at 80kmph, they zoom away is their problem, i continue my 80... hehehe

Ah... Maybe that's why my clutch spoiled recently... -.- always clutch and blow tailgaters, especially cars

Not sure if this is correct, but imagine you clutch in, so it's disengaged, so there's no transmission of power from engine to clutchplate. Then you blow and blow, your engine is still going at maybe 8k rpm, then u engage the clutch suddenly. It's like 0 rpm to 7+k rpm on the clutchplate suddenly. The amount of friction generated is damn a lot, and not to mention the sudden engaging of the clutchplate. This will cause clutchplate to wear out a lot faster, and not good for engine.

If down gear and rev at high rpm, at least the clutch is never disengaged. And i think for SP, 8k rpm is ok, since that's where the power bend is around also. If i was on a track (which i still haven't tried yet due to procrastination), i would think i'd like to keep the rpm around that amount most of the time, if not more.

Don't tailgate. 2a braking power is different with 2b braking power. 2a is stronger. If he wan sabo u, he just brake and u Kena him, he claim your insurance already. Don't tailgate. U want tailgate, make him tailgate u... >_i will definitely noe my limits. no worries. ;)

That's what a clutch is designed for and it will still last the time its designed for. In other words, you rev high, you disengage and re engage, its not going to significantly increase your clutch wear.

True that it doesn't cause significant increase in the wear and tear of the clutch, thus i say i'm not that sure. What i do know causes significant wear and tear to clutchplate is holding half clutch. But still, Norman from Racewerks told me that it's better to go low gear and blow rather than clutch in... So, that's what i do lor... heh...

RIDE.

Heh... maybe lor... but there's other ways of signalling intention to pass than to keep revving engine bah... Rev is akin to sounding a challenge mah...

Speaking about this, 2 days ago on my way to work, there was 2 LTA bikes following behind me while i was lane splitting at 50kmph (for safety reasons) in non-moving jam. when i saw them behind me, i decided to find the nearest gap to move into to allow them to pass. Heng after 1km, the cars were moving slowly so i signalled and filtered to lane one, then they pass liao i went behind them and continue my 50kmph.

Can these LTA bikes, or even TP bikes for that matter, summon you for lanesplitting? I a bit hum ji now cos pending appeal success, i am only on 6 points now, a bit scared, hahaha...

Haha its ok, just let him rev. Mayb he lost his left thumb, hence cannot press horn button.

Hmmm as far as i understand, lane splitting in spore is neither legal nor illegal. However, its permittable in a way its not endangering other motorists. Tat means u can LS, but if kena accident and TP said u LS dangerously, then u r in deep sh*t...

thats what i heard too. a fren of mine told me this as a joke. He went US for an exchange programme. and he talked to some of his classmates who rides and he told me this, "in U.S, its called lane sharing but in Singapore, its called lane splitting." cos in US they actually let bikers in or share lane. whereas in singapore, you share, kena horn or etc. haha.

How come u wait till after the junction then you decide to react? Could have seen that coming way before, at the start of the vid.

rider's thought at that time : my way ah, better give way ah, u better dun come over.... (but in the end the taxi still eats into rider's lane)

to the rider in the video, ride safe bro, think of your loved ones.

Heh... i like that explanation, cos i sometimes think like that when i see cars behaving suspiciously, and then i'll have my hands and legs ready for e-brake and quick downshifts to get more engine brake fast and also head turn before all these to look for escape route.

I noticed also that rider had checked blindspot first, prolly why delayed action taken also. Needed to make sure safe to filter right.

RIDE.

FYI I've already anticipated that the taxi will move before I pass him, just didn't expect him to cut straight to the right lane

And yes I was doing a quick blind spot check because as you can see from far, the taxi was inching out too much in the first place
