hi all, i am currently taking my class 2 licence. i am looking forward to own a VFR myself. saw this red beauty at one of the bukit merah bike shops and cant resist to put some cash down just to book it..

what are the things i need to look out for? i am thinking of putting GIVI side boxes, are those hard to come by and are they expensive?

i think that's all for now.

Hi! I would find out a few things for the experts here.

1) what is the average market price for a 2003-2005 VFR.

2) hear-say the average Fc is about 14km/l for this beast @ 100km/h?

3) notice from some online site, the front Nissin braking caliper

comes in black n some in gold, any diff?

4) can't tell the diff between the 2005 and the latter model

5) where is the best place to start looking?

6) In your opinon any diff from the 900-hornet (exclue V4 technology)

Thanks in advance! looking for to your advice!

How do u tell which VFR from which gen?

I have a 2002 VFR800 which looks exactly like its predecessor...

Look at the photo immediately before your post. It showcase all the various gens from the 6th gen on the left to the 1st gen on the right.

if its an underseat exhaust its a 6th gen circa 2002-2009. There are still new 5th gens for sale even now. Mine is a 5th gen registered in 02 too.

Current 2010 VFR1200F is the 7th gen.

Have anyone changed the front and the rear signals to the later batch of VFR. Crystal clear ones? I want to revive the outlooks...

Any idea, where and how to get them?

Nice!

Did saw those adjustable brake/clutch lever at Motor world at about 180/pcs those foldable type at about 220. Was shopping for adj-levers for my vtwin in the hope to lessen the pull-pressure...din expect to spent half a grand for those... :faint:

Anyway I got those carbon-fiber looking "chiong" levers for my super4 at Sin Boon Motor (sembawang Area)...seem to work fine.

Happy Shoppin!

  • 3 weeks later...

Yes its possible.

However, it is costlier. HEL, VEINHILL offer good price range but you need to order online.

Some mech offers between 700 - 1k for such replacement.

Unless you want to bypass the CBS and go direct, I think its about $300max.

Just realized today while I washing my bike that the combined braking system is not functioning :cheeky:

I put the bike on mainstand and squeeze the front brake. However the rear wheel still spins freely. Any idea where I should start my troubleshooting?

CBS is not an electronically-controlled system. ABS is. CBS is mechanically-controlled. look at your front-left caliper. it's attached to a hinge on one-end and a small pump on the other. so when you press the front brakes, the braking effect will cause the the left caliper to be dragged along with the rotational direction of the disc, thus squeezing that small pump as well. that small pump will then activate one piston of the rear caliper.

it'll only work when you are braking hard(eg stopping for the traffic lights) because the braking forces generated are much greater as to when you just ride slowly(eg moving off and stopping in a queue at the checkpoint) or when you are stationery.

long story short, the harder you work the front brake, the more you feel the rear brake biting.

cheers!

Thanks for the guide dinie... Will go back and take a look tonight. So the rear wheel should not rotate if I put the bike on main stand and squeeze the front brake lever right?
