VFR General Enquiry Thread

Hi all Viffers,

I picked up a 1998, VFR 800 in December 2008. Bike in excellet condition, done only 9000 Kms when I got it. Now clocking 10,500 Kms :)

We don't get spares for this bike in India & hence need to locate a reliable dealer in Singapore / Kuala Lumpur from where I can have it picked up.

All I need immediately is an Air Filter & I have someone coming to Singapore today & returning in 2 days. Later will need to stock up on Rear Brake pads & Rear Brake Rotor since it has some thin groves but working like a dream.

I am hoping one of you good folks will be able to help me out.

If you don't want to clutter the group you can mail me direct at [email protected]

Thanks & regards

Roshan

Your friend can drop in at the local Honda agent for the parts. Here's the web page http://www.boonsiewhonda.com.sg/. Good luck.

and you may want to post yr article at the "General Enquiry" thread instead http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145879. Cheers

BTW, any seniors here where I can program my second Viffer key??

I had cut my key but have not program it yet.

Anyone knows where I can get it programmed? Is it only done at Boon Siew??

Just want to keep a spare key for "just in case" purposes. :)

Thanks in advance for your advice(s). :)

Boon Siew charges quite high for programming.(I think abt $40,not too sure)

I did mine at Southern Motor. Just make sure the mech kw what he doing. I see that the mech will need special wirings and a batt.Mine was done when I doing oil change and FOC programming by my usual mech.

Loois Mr. Lee also told me he can do for me FOC as my bike is from them.

Past rides are already history....

Current ride: FW VFR 800 ABS

It was $744.28 last year, my first year in the insurance using my own name.

(Previously two years of riding, I have been using my friend's name as the main rider and I was the sub-rider. Both of us same age.)

Thanks for the input, bro.

Guess I cannot go to both shops as my ride is not from them. :)

you can diy, but you will need the connecting wires (either buy $80 from honda or diy for $8 from sim lim tower). it's a straight forward process (if you know what you are doing) :cheeky:

since you've cut a 2nd key, i assume there's a 3rd one with the shop? bear in mind that the h.i.s.s. (you programme the h.i.s.s. and not the key) remembers up to 4 keys only and the keys must be present during the programming. if the bike remembers these 2 keys (without the 3rd one), the 3rd key at the shop would not be able to start your bike the next time (unless you go through another programming of the h.i.s.s. with all 3 keys).

K.W

~ new to VFR

Dear all viffers, i'm new to this thread as i onli started reading it after i decided on buying a VFR. I realised u guys go a long way back and the age group varies too. from 21 to 34 also have. lol. I just bought my VFR from Looi's this morning and they are preparing all the paper work and doing up the bike nicely for me. I will be collecting it on Mon afternoon. I will share more details later on in future posts after i get to try it out for the next few days.

I'm very interested in joining u guys for a meet-up/kopi/touring round island session in this coming August. Reason being i've nvr really joined any bike group b4 and also me being a 'new bird', got alot of burning qns to ask all the 'lao chiaos' here. Hope u all will welcome me.

Looking forward to the outing!

1st burning qns: What are some of the things i shld check out for i go collect the bike on Mon? Things like brakes, grips, chains, appearance of bike, servicing, tuning etc? Which are the more important ones? thks in advance!

for that price, i will forget about getting the pciii in singapore and ship in a set of pcv from the states instead. same price (or cheaper), but so much better. and it works on all 02++ model despite what the pc website says.

Too late, bro Ryan...

Traded in mine last weekend...

But you can go to the "A" bike shop at Bukit Merah Lane to look at it.

There are two VFRs there for you to view.

Mine, the mileage of FBB 4*4 is around 35,000+ KM.

Just did my valve clearances about two months back... So you can save a few hundreds on doing it. :)
