Hi all,

I understand that NTUC has a list of approved workshops authorized to do own damage claims and 3rd party claims.

What about other insurance companies? Do they practice that also?

Also what are the main factors to consider other than premium when choosing a insurance company?

AXA has an authorised workshops condition.

Neither AXA nor Mitsui have an IDAC condition.

I always consider reputation as the most important when choosing an insurer, and never the price. No use paying a low price if the insurer is going to make claims difficult.

Then in your opinion, which insurance company has a better reputation?

besides

1) Allowed workshop

2) Premium

3) must report to IDAC or not

still have

3) Excess payable (for rider and sub-riders)

4) Num of sub-riders allowed

I'd prefer to keep my opinion to myself.

You can speak to a seasoned motor insurance broker (broker - not agent) and get his opinion.

i just passed my tp and my friend is willing to add me as sub rider to his bike.

1) how can i ride his bike legally? must i apply for insurance?

2) how do i apply for sub rider insurance?

3) does insurance companies offer half annual/monthly coverage?

Problem is: i'm only gonna ride his bike for 5 months (due to overseas commitments). wont be back for 3 years.

Please advise. Thank You

If your friend is willing to let you ride his bike, you need to go back to the insurance company and add yourself as the sub rider. Be prepared to pay an amount of service charge.

Please do make sure your friend has no other sub rider for his insurance as there can only be a main rider and sub rider.

in addition, you must not have any agreement (formal or informal) to pay him for the use of the bike. he can't rent you the bike so you'll need to keep it as a social arrangement rather than a compensatory one.
